Hey are there any deep carry clips available?

    Thanks all!

I Would have done the same thing if i found one. There's really not much difference between 170&120. I have both, side by side comparison the 170 is brighter and throws a little farther but by themselves you really can't tell a difference.

I have a minor pocket clip issue with my legacy clicky. The clip is kind of loose and spins around. Also the tension could be better. It only became a real problem when I received a new acme threaded model that has the same clip, yet it remains in place and has better tension. I did notice the shape of the battery compartment is slightly more significant in the acme model.

Does anyone else have this problem on the legacy model?

You beat me to it, but then I was kind of hoping he might have known something we didn't.

HDS 4 level Twisty to have the same range of ouputs as the Clicky would get me excited!

With the legacy the clip was not originally designed to go under the tailcap. It was originally intended to attach to the body with screws. To solve the problem on my legacy I bent the ring on the clip that goes around the tailcap just slightly upward. The slight bend provides just enough extra pressure to keep the clip from spinning.

My most used level is 3.3L. I almost never use more than 30L.

Do you really find that you're using max output all that often?

Agree. And when my eyes get adjusted to the dark the lowest level is very bright and useful. Honestly I don't think I've ever turned mine on high, other than to show someone how bright it can get or to just amuse myself.

The only time I use my brightest level (100L) is to see if it blinks to let me know my battery is low.

Well, I got the light Saturday and today is just Tuesday...so yes, I've used max a large percentage of the time I've used the light! Of course that's just playing...for general purposes, no, 120 is plenty (but extra power on tap is always good...no matter what).

Also agree, nothing wrong with having extra lumens. Congrats on your first HDS. Have you figured out the programing? There are plenty of threads arounds to explain how.

Looking to get a HDS 120, but can't really decide whether to get the tactical or executive model. The 20% increase in throw (will it be that noticeable?) is appealing about Tact, but I would prefer a flush tailcap and silver bezel that's on the Exec. Would it be worth the effort to buy a 120T and swap bezel and tailcaps with another CPF member? Would this void the lifetime warranty?

    Thanks

EDIT: I know that there appears to be a few places with the 120E in stock, but they don't have free shipping! Can anyone recommend a good place?

On the new models there is no difference in throw between the tactical and executive models. Henry stated this to me in an e-mail when I asked the exact same question. (Originally the tactical had more throw.) I prefer the (almost) flush tail cap as well.

That's great to know. I wondered what reflector profile Henry settled on (do current torches have the legacy exec or the tact throw or somewhere between). Might be interesting for someone to find out, although Henry must be busy seeing that his machine shop supplier just got on board. I'll get an Exec 120 then, just need to find a place that doesn't charge shipping! BTW, you can make the tail caps flush by loosening the tail cap and putting it back on to rid of the positive air pressure that builds up during head installation.

That does help but on all 4 HDS executives I've owned they were never perfectly flush and all had a remaining slight wobble when tailstanding.

Thanks! Yes, I already reprogrammed it. I thought it was pretty easy, other than changing preset A (defaulted to strobe and I wanted max). I emailed Henry after searching and he explained how to select it so that I could continue programming. Other than that, not bad at all.

I checked in and got the news that samples were being shipped and it would be several weeks and Then orders should be in production... I think that we're out of the woods now, anything could happen of course but I have a good feeling about it this time.

So realistically another 4- to 6-weeks before the first orders are filled, and who knows how long it'll take to cover the undoubtedly sizable backlog. Since I ordered late-December, I guess I should expect at least another two-months before I finally see my high CRI Rotary.
