Thread: SPY 007 XM-L Sales thread is CLOSED

All the SW GG bodies are complete. I finally figured out all the details that were necessary to get it to come out exactly as I wanted it. Only took me a year to figure it out. LOL

I will now be able to build the last lights and ship them out Monday.

London Lad, your SW GG light is ready too.

    Cheers
    Dave

    Hi,

Any idea when there may be more XM-Ls?

I may have to pull the trigger when the XML becomes available again.

Or, maybe wait for the Tri-V.

Fairly soon, I have parts to make more 007 XM-L lights but most of my time has been going to the final development of the Tri-V2.

Send me an email if you can not wait.

    Cheers

I am very interested in getting an XM-L light in the next run. I've already subscribed to the announcement thread as well as this thread so now I just have to wait patiently.
Here is a list of my lights.

I've only been a member a short time, but I'm continually impressed with the knowledge and friendliness of CPF members. I have one custom light and wish to add an XM-L SPY 007 with the SW GG option.

Guys, what are the lumen ratings on the XM-L?

The lumen rating is a very slippery slope. There are many threads here on CPF that explain the issues with the emitters, the light gathering, the variations in flashlight electronics and emitters and the number crunching. I do not get involved.

I only publish the true maximum RMS current that my converter puts out. Add that to the manufacturer stated efficiency of the emitter bin and you can get a ball park of emitter lumens. My reflector is as good as most and I use a standard crystal lens with no coating.

Dave. Why does the pricing differ between the xpg and XML Spy 007?
Is there any other differences between the two other than the emitter difference.

The board in the XM-L is the same as the one in the Tri-V, so It cane run up to 3000, xp-g runs up to 1400.

Good point. Max drive for xpg is only 1.5amps as opposed to 3amps for XML.
Meaning the XML is much brighter when fully driven but runtime is greatly reduced.

OK yeah, you could say that the runtime is reduced. But my real world experience is, as you're carrying and using the light on a daily basis, it spends a small percentage of its time at 3000 mA. So the actual runtime difference may not be so much. Its having the power when you need it but easily being able to dial in a more reasonable level that makes this work well.

Plus the XML is a more efficient emitter. You get more lumens and less heat at a similar given drive level.

To get the 3amps driven level, is IMR battery required?

If a RCR123 is used, what is the maximum drive would it go!?

Yes only IMR is going to reach that level without problems to the batteries. I don't recommend generic rechargeable batteries above a thousand milliamps.

Dave. Are you planning to incorporate the new Tri-V2 lockout sequence into the Spy007. I think this will be the most used feature in any of your lights given the knob movement is so fluid.

I am in on one for this feature.

XM-L2 is officially available now. Any plans to include this upgrade in the next run Dave? I will be all over this.
