MagLite XL 200 And Rechargeable Battery Plz Help

Can you use rechargeable AAA 1.2v 850mAH in the maglite xl 200 its supposed to use AAA 1.5v
i heard it can shorten the led life, and you loose lumens

From my experience, the answer is yes. The circuitry in the light seems to handle it fine. That's not speaking to the longevity of such a setup. I personally don't think you can shorten the life of the LED in this way since the light has thermal control.
