What Makes the Small Form HID's So Expensive?

Im really interested in a handheld version of my Amondotech Illuminator but all the really easy carry small versions seem to be in the 2k range.

My Rookie questions are:

What makes them so expensive?

Are there cheaper alternatives like budget Polarions (realizing the quality will not be as good)

Is this the type of tech that is dropping rapidly in price? Is it like the $400 Blu ray I bought that now costs $80 2 years later for example?

Thanks, I ordered a 75W HID XENON BY QP STORE which claims 7500 lumens and costs only $175.

It looks like an easy carry.
