Scorpion bodies are studded with eyes, sometimes as many as twelve — and scientists may have found one more.

A scorpion's entire exoskeleton may act as one giant light receptor, a full-body proto-eye that detects shadows cast by moonlight and starlight.

That's still just a hypothesis, but it would help explain why they glow so brilliantly under ultraviolet light.

I'm going to Arizona in a couple weeks. I need to get a UV light before then and find some scorpions to shine it on. Always wanted to do that.

Is there a consensus as to which wavelength range works best for the stingy little buggers ?

They're a little hard to find this time of year since most of them go dormant. Come around in August though and I get you buckets of 'em.
