    Hi AlphaZen,

    Thanks for the question.
I'll check if the trits I have fit inside the hole.
if they do, I will post a pic too
A red trit would look cool!

Yourself and your teams commitment to doing all this work on such a restrictive scale is all the more impressive as it seems to not just be working but exceeding expectations.
The ELO system is an elegant solution to only a very slight issue, that non the less proves the attention of detail being applied to this project.
I greatly look forward to this torches release,

I suppose you could mix up some glow putty and just fill up the hole, but I wonder how well that would stay charged up. Any other ideas for glow in the dark marking for this light?
    Hi Sno4Life,
    GITD o-rings,
Im sure that's possible, just a matter of getting some made,
unless anyone here knows of a possible source?

    Hi TMG,

Thanks for the post and question.
I don't remember which one I registered first but was on a different computer way back when,
then I tried to change it but after reading one of the admin stickies to the flavor of "no we can't change your username",
did not want to bother them.

Certainly if its possible, I would love to have it changed.

I am however planning to do the sales via a website,
that I can be sure will be available 24/7/365 which will also help me automate as much as possible,
as I do imagine I will be occupied with licking a fair few stamps when the time comes.

    Thanks everyone!!

Not too sure if these are suitable for you but here are some potential retail sources for GITD o-rings, not sure where you should go if you want them wholesale in large quantities:

    AnAppleSnail,

Thanks for the post and sorry to hear you haven't receive any updates!

The sending part is an automated process so the only thing I can think of is one of either:
    1) spam/junk folder
    2) incorrect email address

Please feel free to send me a pm with your email and I'll be happy to check it against my records.

    Hi Sno4Life,

I will measure and let you know but my guess is about 12mm.

Sir, I tip my hat! It almost seems like you are at your computer waiting for a question on this build so as to promptly answer it. Great job! I have read this whole thread and still somehow missed the price How much will it be?

    Keith,

    Appreciate the praise, thank you
Target price is around $65, and hoping to have a more firm idea on that in the next week or so,
    once the next prototype arrives.

    Hi Acid,

    Welcome back.
    You've not missed it!
Jan was a little slow in terms of development due to some partner/suppliers being on holiday.
Im expecting a new proto to be ready later this week.

    AlphaZen,
I check on the trit and the ones I have did not fit in the lanyard hole (by a hair).
It might be possible to enlarge the hole just enough to get them to fit inside.

In case you hadn't seen it, there are some pics of the torpedo with trits between the tailfins in part1
    (here: post 1423)

    Sno4Life,
I measure the o-ring under the lens and the diameter was as I guessed, 12mm.

    Thanks,

I did miss that post and that looks like a much better solution/option than what I had come up with. That looks awesome! Leave the lanyard hole to other things, like lanyards. This light just keeps looking better and better.

Thank you for measuring! What size is the trits in the prior post? 1.5x5.5? Do you remember where you purchased it? Im not sure I will even be able to get my hands on one in the US...

    Hi AlphaZen,

    Thanks for the feedback.
The trits fit just fine but you might want to cover them with a thin layer of epoxy just to be on the safe side (to protect them),
though the tail fins offer quite good protection from bumbs and the like. I had a tough time trying to pull one off with just my fingers to see if it would fit in the hole (ended up using tweezers) as the trits fit in that space between the fins quite well.

    Hi Sno4Life,

    My pleasure of course!
    Trit size...
    I think 1.5 x 5.5 (again I can measure to be sure).
The trits in the photo are some spares I bought when I purchased one of those small Wxx from the somewhat infamous UK maker, quite a while back.

This option had been discussed at the very beginning, but a new mold would have to be made just for this ($$$) so it was agreed to leave it aside and consider a later add-on if possible.

I'd still be in for one. A pocket-rocket that lights the entire house is impressive enough, but one that can light the house at the end of the street as well is evenr better

Throw is always a pleasing kind of power to have.
something to explore once we make it past the initial production run.

    Thanks Cataract,

Technically it does seem feasible, just need to find a lens with the right focal length and size.

    Thanks DBCstm,
Appreciate the duality of your post, capturing both calm and pressure

and now for the less exciting news...
I received word back from the lab that they were not yet able to complete the circuit to specification.
I must admit that I had to read the email about 5 times to be sure my eyes were not playing tricks, and to overcome the initial shock it left me in, as I was expecting the mail to say "its on the way" with a tracking number (as has been the usual protocol).

I did of course follow up immediately to get to the bottom of the delay, get an accurate idea of timeline and see what can be done to speed things up.

The initial timeline they came back with was another 4 weeks, to get the pcb/driver done, with the cause being partly waiting on some components and partly dealing with backlogs of other projects.

The team from the "body" workshop have agreed to go and visit the pcb lab (as they are a lot closer than I am) to see what can be done to speed things up and check on progress and double check they can get it completed as it is very close to completion.

I know many of you have been waiting for this, (perhaps even marked a date in your calendar) and believe me, I'm very, very anxious to get the Torpedo proto completed asap, and then move straight into production, but it seems some things can only go so fast, though I shall continue to push them forward, each day, until we reach our target.

I will post an update on timing as soon as I hear back, but for now, the bottleneck is getting the pcb done.
Everything else is looking fine (body, package, etc)

Thanks for your patience & understanding,

    humbly yours,
    tgwnn

Thanks for the update! I think we can all appreciate the time and effort that's going Into this project. It's not easy by any means... If it was, we all would make our own lights.

My MicroStream is hanging in there for the time being. Can't wait to get my hands on a stainless version of yours!

    Tgwnn,

Take the time you need to get it right, that is much better for all concerned. There have been some recent examples of relatively large volume production lights that have been rushed onto the market without proper and thorough user testing. The end results have been lights with significant problems, unhappy buyers, damaged reputations etc etc.

I am as keen as the next man (or woman) to get my hands on this little gem, but am willing to wait to let you get it "right".

It will take as long as it takes (and then we can look forward to your next interesting projects).
