A Heads-up for FireFox browser users (who use add-ons)

"foof" add-on may slow your Firefox loading time to 35 seconds !

I use an older version (3.6.17) of Firefox browser with many Add-on's .

"foof" was an add-on to remove advertising from your browsing .

The "foof" add-on is NOW discontinued and no longer available .

A proper functioning Firefox browser should load in 6 seconds .

If yours is taking 35 seconds like mine was , try removing that Add-on .

You can replace it with "Trueblock Plus" or "Adblock Plus" ... Etc.

I hope this "Tip" will reduce your TroubleShooting time ... and save some hair.

I always found AdBlockPlus worked better and have been using that for ages.

Why such an old version on Firefox?

Cause it takes a long time for Add-ons to to be updated ,
so that they are compatible with newest FF releases .

I got tired of having to wait MOnths for my add-ons to catch up and work again .

I can't function without some of them .

I heard the current "Adblock Plus" defaults to let some/certain Ad's thru ....

when it Up-dates itself ........ and that's why "Trueblock Plus" was created .

That's why I mentioned IT first .

That may be true, but if I see an Ad, I add it to the list, and never see it again. A moments inconvenience, at most.

AdBlock Plus draws its information about which ads to block from an update list on the Internet. When enough people block the same ad, it gets added to the list and everyone's browsers get updated automatically. I almost never need to do anything to "train" it.

Newer versions of Firefox integrate the most popular add-on features from older versions. Chances are you'd be able to find the features you want in the newest version of Firefox without needing most of the add-ons you use now.

I never found that to be true in the past .

And I don't expect it to be the case in the latest Firefox version

I use many " very specialized and Unique " Add-on's to alter the look of websites .

Well yes, content-altering add-ons generally don't make it on the list of "most popular features." Most people, Firefox developers included, have more important things to worry about than making it possible for everyone to customize other people's intellectual property to suit their preferences. Though if you wanted a good solution for doing that, GreaseMonkey allows Firefox to run custom scripts against website code, to do things like replacing the styles (stored in CSS files) with whatever you want. Using GreaseMonkey would be much more efficient than using separate add-ons for each website.

Thank you! I was unaware of Adblock, and I like it.

I already ran Noscript, which on most sites blocks most advertising; it's nice that sites I allow to place scripts(like CPF) now have advertising blocked.

Hmm. You probably won't make any friends on CPF by announcing that you block the advertising that (partially) pays for the site.
I run adblock plus and I don't mind seeing CPF ads, except for one annoying ad that would "flash" which I saw one time, which I almost reported as they IMO are a no no... extremely distracting and annoying.
