It looks like I just missed out on a group buy, but I have a few questions regarding the use of a WA01160 bulb in an otherwise stock MagCharger.

1) Does it require a Ceramic potted bulb?
2) If a potted bulb is recommended, does that require any modification to the MC to properly fit?
3) What would be the limit on continuous runtime before any damage to the light might occur?
4) Any other considerations [or options]?

Thanks in advance for any infomation you can provide.

1. No
2. See 1
3. Several members have posted no damage from this; one I saw posted that some heat marks occurred to the bulb pedestal. Runtime should be 40-45 mins.
4. Yes. Powerstream 1/2D's to replace the stock batts for 300ma more capacity and a stated ability to deliver more current. I will be testing that myself. And don't forget the UCL! I also have a Nite Ize Clip n Grip on mine; an excellent cheap accessory, IMHO.

Re: MagCharger - WA01160

Are the Powerstream 1/2D's required for the WA01160?

Also, since I missed out on the group buy, where might I purchase a WA01160 and how much should I expect to pay?

TIA

Re: MagCharger - WA01160

No, they are not. At the minimum, they have approx 10% greater capacity than the stock cells, 2500 vs 2200mah.

Unless you get in on the group buy, WA has a $100 minimum buy. My suggestion to you is to look down the group buy list and see if there's anyone that ordered the 1160 that may have extras. They should be around $3 each. This has been deemed by several as, "the best $3 mod you can do".

Re: MagCharger - WA01160

Does anybody know what size UCL the MagCharger requires?

1) 52mm is standard for most of the big Maglites
2) 55mm is Tigerlight size
3) Other ?

Chris at Flashlightlens thought it might be a non-standard size.

Edit: I would measure it myself, but I don't have the light yet.
