I'm a newbie. I'm awaiting delivery of a Fenix TK41, which requires 8 AA batteries. Which type of battery will give the 'brightest' performance? There seems to be 2 diverging opinions. One says 1.5v x 8 = more voltage = more current = brighter LED. And so on and so forth...Any experienced advice?

The TK41 is regulated. It shouldn't matter, except for that whole lithiums cost just as much as eneloops part. The eneloops can push more current (because you can abuse them without fear of venting with flame)

Not to say that lithium primaries are likely to vent with flame upon any sort of abuse short of recharging.

you can use both, if you use light a lot, get rechargables, will be chaper to charge than to buy new, if you use it ocasionally get lithiums, if it will be "keep in a car " light, definatly get lithiums, cuz heat\cold isn't good for any cell except lithiums. plus they don,t leak, as alkalines do. you can use alkalines too, just check them once a month or so to see if they don't show signs of leakage, if they do leak, use hydrogen peroxide to clean up. definatly don't use alkalines if you leave the light in the car, they normaly don't leak too often, but if left in hot car, they do leak a lot more often.

+1
not to mention they wont see nearly enough current in that light even in turbo, to matter.
