I heard many cases of iphone 3gs battery explosion from TV.
Is it because of battery age or quality?

Hello Bestsystem,
Another factor is abuse. The Li-Po cells used in phones degrade when subjected to shock forces like dropping the phone.

Hmmm... My gen 1 iPhone still haven't exploded.
If its a battery fault shouldn't apple recall those iPhones that are equipped with that type of battery? That what they did with the iPod nano.
If they are not doing it that means that it's just a bad accident.

Li-Ion cells are rated for a certain number of cycles. After that, they should be replaced. Just because the Gen I iPhone battery greatly exceeds its cycle count specification, doesn't mean that the 3gs' cell hasn't.
My gen 1 iPhone hasn't exploded either.
