Its been 4 months since our last meet in Oct 2011. Anyone interested for a BBQ and CPF meet? Was hoping to get out of the usual metropolitan parks and into a rural environment where we won't get bothered by police choppers. Suggestions anyone?

Before we can become old and wise, first we have to be young and foolish.
When I die, I want to be like grandpa, peaceful and asleep. Unlike his passengers, screaming and yelling...

Somehow I missed this thread.
I'll check my calendar.
Anywhere north of Melbourne is good for me![]()
Same here Simon, anywhere east is fine by me
Norm
Now all we need is someone from Geelong to demand a southerly location.
Leoht will want Ballarat.
Can't please everyone, and I called dibs first!
(And no, Norm, you can't moderate my posts to show otherwise!)

Either way is no problem for me, I love driving. If we have it at Wangaratta, Norm could drive to my place in Notting Hill and then jump in my car. If we have it in Warragul, Simon could drive to my place and hop in my car. Now we just need votes as to the location.
PS: I'll bring beer...again...lamb roast anyone?

If we head that way, I'll take you up on the offer Gav
Norm
I'm not dragging my spit to Melbourne. It's portable, but not *that* portable.
If you want a lamb roast, come and get it
I'll happily supply the lamb.
If it's up your way Simon it should be an overnighter.
Norm
Tempting... but I'd have to see if my wife can survive 24hrs with 2 screaming kids without a referee. I don't mind staying till late and driving back, but its too dangerous for Norm to drive back to Warragul late and alone. So if we have the meet at Wangaratta, it'll make the best sense to be an overnighter. I'll need a few days to plan the situation at home first before I can confirm. BTW, are we sleeping out in the open or in the barn/guest house?

Norm

The date looks good for all, what about the location - Wangaratta - ok? I know its not a central location, but to tell the truth, I was getting bored going to the same locations like Lysterfield Lake, Jells Park, Westerfolds etc...

I'm happy not to go for a drive
If you guys are happy to come up here, i'll look for a good shooting range. Pitch black, 100m, 250m and 500m targets![]()
Poll added, those of you attending, please vote.

Hehehehe [ Are we there yet ] The itch , for another meet . Feb moving into March . [ Back to school ]
Anyone have an itch , and some new lights ?
DX is up to its old games , close to 4 months for the last light ordered . [ Might be time to become the squeaky wheel ]
Your thread merged Matt.
Norm
I vote for just slightly south, TASSIE!!!...........![]()
How's this for a location:

About 15 mins from town, we can take the spit, Leoht (or anyone else that wants to) can camp. There's a 500m or so open space as a shooting range, and it'll be dark as kamahl up there. There's even longdrops and a wood burning BBQ if you want to add snags to the spit-roast lamb.
Here's a Google Earth shot of the camping area:

State park. Now that I think of it, you might have some trouble with your dog... If you keep it on a lead you'll be fine, but if you let it run, they do bait for foxes up there.
Edit: actually, dogs are banned from the Warby state park... Poo.
