I couldn't get these here but did manage to get 1/3A NiCd cells at a lowly 250mAh. I have charged them up and so far they work great in my ARC LSS.

It seems that NiMHs of this size have about 1/3 the capacity of the lithium 123s. Wouldn't that would cut the run time of an Arc LS from about 2 hours to about 40 minutes? Of course, if you're willing to top them off frequently that should be no problem.

Vetco in Renton had some AA sized 3.6V (NiCd 100mAh)batteries for a buck each a couple months ago. If there's someone in the Bellevue/Issaquah area it may be worth looking into.
