Thread: I don't get it

    Default I don't get it

I was looking at the RMSK Soecials page where the QTC Volcan HA CR2 has recently been listed at about a third off.
The CR2 battery is smaller than the CR123 so the idea of a light that throws like a Logan is attractive.
Then I looked at the specs and the Volcan is slightly longer and heavier than the Logan on the same page.
It is a great buy but I think Curt dropped the ball by not designing a much more compact unit.
    Maybe I will get it.

I just ordered 2 of the Volcan CR2 from the RMSK specials page.
First, I called Bob and he confirmed that compatibility of the Volcan CR2 with both the AAA Volcan & Mach 3. He is so Knowledgeable that I got a kick from hearing he never knew that.
I found 3.7 volt rechargeable CR2s (CR15270) on fleabay for $2.99 each with free shipping from the USA. I ordered one and it was fresh and perfect so now I'll buy a few more before they are gone.
Now I shall Run my Mach 3 head on a CR2 QTC body.

I'm a bit confused - unless they have changed the threading recently, the Logan and Volcan are not interchangeable (though the OD of the bezels are the same, the ID of the threads is different) ....

I just checked this out right now with a Logan 17500 and a Volcan CR2, which cannot be swapped ...

EDIT (for clarity, corrected from prior post): jorgen pointed out below that the Mach 3 does interchange with Volcan threads - thanks

We need clarification on this. If Curt has changed threading/sizing Peak legoability will be even more confusing!

My bad, I typed "Logan" when I should have typed Volcan. I am editing the post to reflect this.
Also, there is no Logan CR2.

The optics are the same but not the threading or bezels. Mach 3 legos with Volcan, The El Cap does not.

When I purchased the Mach 3, I thought the head would fit an El Cap. It did not, but when I tried it on my Volcan AAA it was perfect.

Thanks for correcting me (I did re-edit my post above to clarify) .... I should really know better than to post about a Peak I do not actually have, no matter how "logical" it seems

So, anyone want to volunteer to create a "master compatibility thread" ...

IIRC the Volcan is based on the previous Pacific model.

I too thought the mach 3 was a Ti El Cap.

Maybe Dances with Flashlight could do a "Master compatibility" thread.
