Nice mod! Don't see how it's 90 CRI though. Many of the "high cri" 5mm LEDs have inflated CRI readings. It seems a bit blue and even colder than 5000K to me but maybe it's just the white balance. It's just not possible to have 5000k+ and 90+ CRI at the same time for current LEDs at least.

Well there is one "power"-led that can actually do this, the nichia 083. Don uses it in his McGizmo Sundrop. It does 5500K and around 93-96 CRI. It's just not cheap.

Looks nice in my Gerber somethingoranother. No hotspot at all, can't vouch for the specs of the output, but it's much more easy on the eyes without the horrible purple/blue hotspot.
Pretty easy mod once I got past the generous application of thread lock.

Have you considered stripping the anodizing and then polishing the "reflector." I've done it on my E01 and the Nitecore T0. I can actually see a slight hotspot on the T0 with this LED.

This is a good point. The LED was tested for me by a very well known custom CPF builder and compared to the GS:

Definitely, that black does nothing to help the emission of light from this thing. Just a little nervous as I've never stripped the ano, fortunately there are a few threads detailing the process.

Cover everything you want to stay anodized and use oven cleaner. Work slowly and carefully! It's not too hard but the fumes are nasty (ask me how I know).
