not sure if you guys would be into making one but I'd bet theres a demand!
especially if there was slightly more material (if thats possible)

or maybe provision for direct emitter bonding etc.

just a thought

these high powered XML reflectored module could use some direct to copper...

Doesn't give much performance boost in a P60. The limit isn't thermal capacity in the pill, it's thermal transfer between the LED and the outside. In other words, you get almost the same burst-output ability with copper as aluminum, but both hit a hard limit of getting heat from LED to metal slug to flashlight body to outside.

Ahh
Gotcha- tho I was thinking if the pill was copper then the emitter could be
reflowed directly to it without the PCB.

I suppose nothing's stopping reflow to standard brass pill then?

Right you are, I have been able to reflow emitters directly to 360 brass (most common alloy) with no problems at all.

A copper pill *would* look cool, but unfortunately that's about it, and you'd never see it anyway.

So direct to brass is pretty much as good then?

I'm kinda bummed none of the regular module vendors offer PCB-less as an upgrade.
I think it would help with high amperage overdriven dropins.
Member Ahorton has made some small copper pads that insert into the top of the pill for starless mounting.

Im pretty clumsy with my soldering iron... Not sure if I could handle reflow ;)

I can see the one I have, no problem.

Can't see anything clearly through that optic, not without a zoom lens anyway. In any event, it's questionable whether there's much aesthetic benefit to having a copper pill you can only see by looking straight into the business end of the light. That's kinda like admiring the rifling inside the bore of a gun.
