Default RIP Davy Jones of The Monkees

Passed away today at 66 of a heart attack. Another icon of my youth gone.

The Monkees was a band that was created for TV in the 60s. The idea for the series was inspired by the Beatles film A Hard Day's Night. You could see this inspiration in all of their episodes.

RIP and thanks for all the music.

I was sad to hear this news today... Yes, I was one of those teenage girls who had pin-ups of Davy all over my bedroom walls... Funny but my husband was just playing the Best of the Monkees cd last weekend and we were happily singing along and remembering back when those songs came out and watching the TV show on Saturday mornings... yeah...

I was born in '66, but I do remember watching their show on TV. Can't say I was ever a fan of their music, but they were entertaining none the less.

Greta had the posters, I had their albums. I still smile everytime I hear one of their hits. They were able to mix the counter culture with innocence. RIP Davey.

Wow, that was neat, Ezo! Thanks for posting that clip, which led me to another clip of Dav's last performance. What fun memories!
