Hi All,

I've got a Barbolight U-15 that I purchased from Custom Divers in 2006, it has 4 luxeon III LED's producing 360 lumens.

I would like to improve it's performance and I started two threads but so far no responses

This one I'm looking for someone to help upgrade it to 900lumens

This one I'm looking for a non-switch tailcap.

So thought I would try in the actual Dive lighting section, Is there anyone who could help point me in the right direction on how to improve it without any special tools (lathe, mill etc).

I found the jpg's of the bomb-proof host which sort of give me the measurements of the head (they seem similar but the jpg is fuzzy) but couldn't find the actual .rar file that had the PDF's which I assume would be clearer, or at least that's what I think based on the photos I've seen in the threads about the bomb-proff host builds.

I think the easiest upgrade is to replace the Luxeon's with KLC8's (the U-15 used these in a later build, then a single P7) but I'm not 100% sure if it's direct drive or not for that version.

Any help, comments etc gratefully received (including you've posted in the wrong you muppet).

Cheers

Neil

Neil,

I have done many LED upgrades for others, similar to what you are after. I am located in the USA, but take a look at the link at the bottom of this post that says "work and projects" - if you like that you see, send me an email (also in my signature) and we can discuss specifics.

Hi Will, I just acquired a second hand Barbolight U15D online. It's a single LED and came with batteries and a canister. I wanted to orefer new batteries, so I ordered 4x Ultrafire 18650 6000mAh 3.7v. Two for when using the torch only and four required when using the canister.

i charged the batteries and installed them in the canister and managed to blow the LED when trying the torch. The torch worked prior to this but I since found out that one of the batteries was a dud and therefore was able to handle the voltage before. Since I installed 4x new batteries it obviously couldn't take it. The LED came on very bright then seemed to quickly go out.

i would like to upgrade to perhaps a 3x LED or a configuration that would allow me to use 2x good batteries when not using the canister or 4x good batteries if I use the canister and would like extra burn time. I have no idea why the single LED that was in the torch couldn't handle 4x 3.7V good batteries and this is what I thought the torch required.

Is this something that you could help me with?

Regards, Jay

Reflector inside U15 is very nice and you need just to replace led and driver . / SST-50 , CREE XML-2 , CREE -XPL ? (3A -5A rank )

Your tank dont have some size capacity for SST-90 , SBT-90 , SBT-70
