I would like to share with you all my latest knife. This is a traditional slipjoint made by Russell White of Sheffield England.











A bit of background on the maker. Russell has spent the last 21 years in the Sheffield cutlery industry making pen and pocket knives for Taylors Eyewitness in Sheffield and in that time he's assembled and finished somewhere in the region of 400,000 knives!

Away from his day job Russell enjoys making fixed blade and folding knives using modern materials but retaining traditional methods and values for his own customers as can be seen on his photobucket albums -

I had one as a kid growing up in southern england

looks like desert ironwood and what steel ?

Yes you are spot on with the wood. The photos don't show the true depth and colour of the desert ironwood. It's got a great fell to it as well.

Steels are 420L springs H&T'd to 48HRC and 420HC blades H&T'd to 56HRC.

I've some photos of one of Russells more upmarket knives some where, I'll try and find them and post.

Here we go .....I while back I was able to have a play with another knife Russell had made during a passaround.

This one is typical of his idea of making a traditional slipjoint but using modern materials.

I am making a 3 blade slippy atm
It has Titanium liners
raindrop ss damasteel mainblade and 440c small blades
was thinking CF for scales aswell
still a lot more work to do though
will post it up at BB when its ready

Very nice knives

I was lucky enough to win one of Russels knives that he donated to a raffle at a British Blades meetup at the Fat Cat pub here in Sheffield..

The knife came in a wodden presentation box with a hidden magnetic catch to keep it closed...




From memory, Russ was only supposed to have been at Taylors Eye Witness temporarily but is still there years later!!!
