Ah, I know what you're talking about. That won't work with the newer Aleph light engines; at some point "they" decided to switch from an anodized upper portion to nickel-plated all over. I suppose some very carefully-placed Teflon tape would make it work with a newer light engine, though.

Yes, for clicky tubes there is no problem with any LE but with a twisty tube the LE would need to have an anodized threaded section. I have some Surefire E series heads that I test them with. They work great. But then again my heads are older heads. I am not sure if Surefire has changed their design as well.

For the Mini-V3 Head I just need to figure out how I want the internal bores cut. I just need to figure out what I want to use inside the head. It is designed for the McR-20 right now.

It should work with the Aleph Head as long as the LE has an anodized threaded section. If the whole LE is EN plated then the twisty will not work. I have an Aleph LE around here somewhere so I will post a picture of it. When I can find it that is...

The trick would be isolating the threads of the light engine from the inner surface of the head, and isolating the sides of the "can" from contact with the inside of the battery tube, so that the only electrically conductive contact the tube would have with the light engine is when the front lip of the battery tube bottoms-out against the back of the light engine. In theory the threads could be insulated with carefully-placed Teflon plumber's tape, and the sides of the "can" could be insulated with normal sticky tape. Both tapes would need to be trimmed to avoid insulating the light engine from contact with the front lip of the battery tube, but once it's done properly, you could forget about it unless/until you wanted to replace the light engine.

That would be it. Most likely just the threads would need to be isolated as the sides of the "can" would most likely not make contact with the Front ID of the battery tube. None of the ones I have here (3 of them) make contact with the sides of the battery tube.

On another note. I am working on this V3 style 20mm head and am thinking I will just make my own module for it. It will use an McR-20 reflector and an XM-L driven at 1.5amps. I will make the module so the threads are isolated so it can be used on a twisty tube as well as a clicky tube. I am going to make the head complete so all you need to do is screw it onto your Aleph / E series compatible body.

That seems to be just the way it goes. Maybe I will just offer the module so people can build it the way they want. I will build a few modules up so if people would rather just purchase what I have instead of building their own they can. Most likely they would be a cool or neutral white. One or the other. Not an option for both unless I happen to purchase two different tints.

On another note... What I have on the machine right now is what a couple requested. Titanium CR2 Twisty body and and different Variation of the Titanium CR123 Body. I will most likely have a couple extras of both for anyone that might be interested. I will probably post them on the store by the weekend unless they don't last that long.

An E2C should work fine as long as you insulate the outer surface of the P60 drop-in with Teflon tape where it touches any exposed un-anodized metal inside the head. Leave the underside of the brass pill exposed, and don't use the negative-contact spring that comes with a lot of drop-ins. That way the light will turn on when the twisty body screws-in far enough to touch the brass pill.
