I seem to have quite a few AAA Eneloops that I'd like to use in something half descent. What options are there? Say upto $50/£50.

I like the Maglite xl line. 50, 100,200. Good lights for the money, my xl100 serves me well with Eneloops.

xl200 is the brightest at 173 lumens. While the 100 and 200 have the same options (infinite brightness, nite lite, strobe, sos) the 100 has the same output as the 50 at 105 lumens. And the 50 is high/low/strobe. I'd recommend the 50 for simplicity or the 200 for shear output.

The Preon2 is a beauty for a good penlight.
The Hypetac P2aSS is a beauty, got a couple from ShiningBeam and I like the look.
The UI goes Med, high then Low with a reverse clickie.

What's your price range?

Go with a Preon2 then, I've got a hi cri on the way from 4sevens.com with a clickie tailcap.
I have a Preon1 on my keys and love it.
