What will you use them for? The best way to decide is get them both and see. If one is clearly better sell the other on MP. You may find each is better for different things and keep them both.

What can you tell us about them? Amps, higher amps, color change with higher amps, heat, beam, Lms compared to XPGs, anything else? I'll have to try one just to satisfy myself Also, how's the beam with a LOP vs smooth?

    Dave,
In your opinion, is the 9v max driver, or the 6v driver (the 1.4Amp) more efficient for a single Lithium Ion battery?

I would like the option of 2x RCR123, but will primarily be using an 18650 cell.

    HI

If most of the time you will be using a single li ion then the 6 volt max is better. Most of the 9 volt drivers have a 3.6 or a 4 volt bottom end versus the 6 volt having a 2.8 bottom limit.

That's what I thought. I'm just looking for the most versatility.

Although it's not like I don't have alot of lights around at any given time.

    Thanks.

Nichi High CRI, 3 level 6v max, 1.4amp, potted.

Here is a comparison of a Cree R4 XPG 5B3 and the new Nichia. I will see if I can get a better picture because to my eyes the Nichia is not near as rosy as the camera brings out.

It is a nice tint and I think the camera is picking up the higher 92 CRI of the Nichia but here is something to look at.

Cree on left Nichia on right.

Both are running at 1.4 amps, and both are using the small aperture lop reflectors I use for XPG's I will try a smooth later. Again in real life the Nichia to my eyes is not that rosy. It does bring out the greens and browns outside quite well.

    Hi

They are the same size as a XPG so that should not be a problem, as for beam quality I would not know until one is built up but I would imagine about he same.

Do you happen to have any detailed info on their Vf and how well they might work with low drive currents & wquiles's joule thief board?
I'm thinking of one of those emitters instead of an XP-G ... ?

    HI

Here is the DATASHEET . These are VERY close to the same specs as a XPG with a VF of 3 volts and I think they would be a great candidate for the Joule thief.

3 level high / med / low (unless low / med / high is possible)
    2.8-6 volts with memory / 1.05 amp
OP reflector, potted with copper tape
    Hosts: Solarforce L2P w/1x18650

    Thanks, Dave!

How Could I resist?!?! potted Nichia linger LMH for me! Try the smo and OP reflectors and give me the one you think is best. I still have the diffusion film you recommended. I wouldn't mind some extra oomph in the throw dept if it exists.

    Hello Dave,

    Hope you are recovering well.

    (1) NICHIA / 4500k 92CRI neutral ($35) / OP Reflector / 3 level / 2.8-6 volts / 1.4 amp / potted (+$5)

    (1) Cree XM-L $40 / T60 flux bin 3C 5000k daylight white / OP Reflector / 1.7 amp (XP-G driver)/ 3 levels / 2.8-6 volts / potted (+$5)

A 1.7 amp XM-L is a great option for hosts with smaller capacity cells or poor heat dissipation. I am really liking the 3C tint but want to check what all the excitement is around the high CRI Nichia.

Thanks again for offering such a great service!

Can you make a Nichia hi cri Linger special* 2.8 -6 volts* with Hi, low regulated*?
Would it still be $45 for the linger plus $5 for international shipping (Canada) ?

    Hi

Yes I can make a 2 level * high , Low * and all my modules are regulated if they have levels.

Yes the price is correct for both the module and the shipping.

    thanks

I copy and pasted, that's why regulated is in there, thanks for clarifying that's in the multi modes.
