Beautiful tint!
Beautiful tint!
I should have made those bags look better
Always interested to see your results, Vinh

Tuned in for the results! Good luck Wayne!
I'm looking for a Spyderco Cat C129CF & Chicago C130CF! LMK if you have one that you're willing to part with.
By the way. All Nichia orders will be thermal potted by default. If you don't want it please let me know! I will post current vs brightness test tonight. A very informal test with my light meter of course since I don't have an integrating sphere.

I'm getting ready to send payment for a single mode. Thermal potting is fine, but can you do solder filled on these?
I can. Solder filled is $5 more though...
hi vinh, are there any left for order? or do we have to wait for the next batch?
Current VS Brightness Update!!!
This is a very very informal test but I do hope it gives us a little clue on how the Nichia 219 perform at different current levels. I measured the initial lux at turn on and after 40 seconds on each run. I focus the hot spot at the same spot on the ceiling every time with the drop in at a constant elevation. The Nichia 219 is not thermal potted and is not in a host. Thermal management therefore is less than ideal so the lumen sag is more pronounced. The XML-U2 was tested at 3.85A and is thermal pootted but no host either. The Thrunite Scoprion V2 with turbo head is 100% stock.
Nichia 219:
2.1A -> 82 lux - 68 lux
1.75A -> 78 lux - 68 lux
1.4A -> 72 lux - 68 lux
1.05A -> 65 lux -60 lux
.7A -> 47 lux -47 lux
3.85A XML-U2 Narrow wide beam smooth reflector
256 lux - 230 lux
Thurnite Scoprion V2 Turbo Stock
225 lux - 200 lux
Restroom 42" 17W diffused florescent tube
168 lux - 166lux
Conclusion: Ok, so as you can see, heat definitely made the drop in sag to about 68 lux afer 40 seconds regardless of how heavy it was driven (up to 2.1A for the test). At 2.1A the drop in was hot very fast. I could not tell the difference between 1.4A and 2.1A in person with my eyes. I honestly think 1A is the best current to run this LED. But I had quite a number of request to push this LED until the there is a tint shift. I don't think the tint will shift until 2.5A for that matter. But really at currents over 2A you are just getting heat unless you can liquid cool this LED. LEDs like the XML, SST-50 or SST-90 I can see why we would want to push the LED way over it's limit to squeeze every bit of lumen but the Nichia 219 is a smaller LED. The intended purpose of this LED should be tint and efficiency. Therefore I have decided to push all of these LEDs to 1.52A on High. Medium would be 35% of that and Moonlight would probably be 1-3 lumen. 1.52A is actually driving this LED very hard already. But I do believe that once I thermal potted it and have it fitted in host snugly the lumen sag would reduced. That's all folks! Let me know if you want yours drive differently.

These are looking really good!
Please do not glue the reflector on mine.
EDIT: I will glue some reflectors to help center the LED for a perfect beam. I will not glue if I get special request.
Please read post 100 and let me know if you want your drop in driven lower or higher than the recommended 1.52A

1.2A max for me, please![]()
That is a very nice tint indeed. Vinh, I emailed you short while ago with some further thoughts on mods with this led. Look forward to seeing the end result.
Thanks
Harry
Vinh,
I've had my leds tint shift at 2.5-3A - angry blue
Craig
1A for mine, please. Going for runtime as well as output/ longevity. Thanks!![]()
1.2 Amp max for me please. Thanks![]()
Push mine to ~1.75a if you can please. That should make Med ~575-600ma which is what I'll be using 75% of the time, and moonmode 24% of the time.

That is fine driven @ 1.75a still please
Your a busy guy!
I'll wait, as long as it's fairly soon...Not sure how I missed out on this run, it appeared as if I was #3 on the list.
