Just wanted to chime in and say how pleased I am with my dropin. I'm running it just as Matt intended, with the silver foil, and it's still working wonderfully in my Fivemega 6P body. The light and beam pattern are beautful, and even at 2.66A the lumen output is great. My brother, who is tough-to-please as a Marine can be when it comes to lights, exclaimed over how high the lux was over so wide an area. Definitely turned my 6P into my favorite light, hands down.

P.S. Hard at work on version 2, but I wouldn't really call it version 2 - this is a different beast. A whole new 'product' so to speak.

I wish I could! The only thing I can say is that it’s still a P60 drop-in. The rest of it is different but I don’t want to say anything until I know I can come up with the goods otherwise I will end up with egg on my face!

I'm trying to learn from past mistakes to make sure what my brother and I offer next is worth every penny

Not yet. If we're lucky I will get it today or tomorrow so I can fix it up with a few others I have at the moment. The shop I buy my epoxy from were out of stock when I went there over the weekend but will get stock tomorrow (Thursday). So if I get your drop-in before then I can fix them all in one hit.

Hey all sorry I'm on holidays atm camping in the Australian alpine region (yes it snows here) ...an internet connection is tricky to say the least! All the builds above look very nice (Tain that GITD is nuts lol). Glad to see people enjoying them

Version 2 is in development but still a few months off. The changes are all for the better so it will be worth the wait!

For those wondering Im back home this Sunday coming so can attend to repairs and answer questions faster then.

I was changing optics and noticed the little support posts might be wide and deep enough to drill out and fit one of Bart's trits in. You need a pretty accurate drill press though and a #52 bit. They are held in place by the lens so you could change colors whenever you like...

That's the best thing I've seen since I've put a dark blue GITD disk and green GITD points for the posts in mine.

With permission from ThatSpec this is something I could easily incorporate into version 2 (which is going swimingly for those who are interested). I wouldn't provide the tritium vials but as 'Spec points out they are easy to add and do not require gluing.

Edit: wait - have you drilled into the heat sink or the optics themselves??? If, as I suspect, you have drilled into the optics then that is some damn impressive workmanship! Zero room for error.

OK....now that I'm looking at the pic on a PC screen and not my phone I can see ThatSpec has clearly drilled out the posts themselves. Impressive stuff. I do have the gear to do this (drill press and 2-axis clamp vice for the drill press) but would let ThatSpec decide what he wants to do first. There would be demand for this for sure - I even want some!

So if ThatSpec wants to pursue this then I'll let him do that, but if not then I will try offer pre-drilled optics with version 2. There will be a premium for these over standard optics though and for obvious reasons. NFI on price but not much that's for sure. Version 2's hardware design is nearly complete so I can get a better idea on manufacture costs hopefully early next week...but then the hard work starts

Improvement over version 1 in every way IMHO.
