Yes Please, Count me in fer a clicky!
I just swapped the LED in my Clicky 120 Executive for the second time and this time I went with the Nichia 219. It lost output on max compared to the XM-L T6 that was in there before, but, the neutral HCRI goodness more than makes up for it. Both light and emitter were purchased from Craig.
219 would be perfect![]()
Peace and Love in the World
I emailed Henry about six weeks ago asking if there would be any chance my High CRI Clicky (ordered Jan 1st) would ship with a Nichia 219. Contrary to what Craig told us in this thread, Henry replied current Clicky orders will ship with their current emitters only (Cree). He explains he is always testing new things but very few of those make it into production. He then states he has not used Nichia's for years because they didn't meet his specs.
Henry concludes with the words "Remember, there is hype, and then there is production."
I don't know what to think right now![]()
HDS flashlights with a Nicha LED would probably have to be a special order via Craig or his website. Craig would be the person that supplies Henry with the Nichia LEDs for the limited run. The HDS flashlights would probably be exclusive via Craig. It would just be like the malkoff nichia 219. He is the only source for those drop-ins. Based on one of Oveready's insider newsletter , even Oveready was not able to get those Nichia drop-ins from Malkoff. This special run will not happen until the current backlog of orders has been cleared. I would guess it will be 4-6 months before any special run? We do have a 6-7 months back log of orders.

Count me in!![]()
I've already got one (mod), but I'd take another. Especially if it was a rotary.
I said before that I wanted a rotary, and I still do.
I just want to ad that also a clicky would be great for me!
I would definitely be in for one as well. An HDS EDC Clicky with the Nichia 4500k 92CRI emitter would be awesome! Hopefully it could be max 170 lumens (or more).![]()

My 120e has just come back to the UK from over the pond to have a nichia 219 mod,ive got to say first impressions are it's fantastic i couldn't be happier. This light won't be leaving my pocket for a long time
i feel like one of them kids who just got one of them golden tickets that willy wonka was touting a few years ago.Just hope i don't come across any of them umpah lumpahs,i don't trust anyone with green skin
anyways back to my new light(well old light with new led).I'm that happy i'm going to post my first ever beam shot's later when it get's dark.![]()
I just sent off 2 of my original HDS EDC's for Nichia 219 upgrades, can't wait to get them back.

I've not stopped playing with my upgraded hds these past couple of hours, the thing is it's not even dark yet.I'm sure you'll be the same with your lights,I don't think it gets much better
than having your favourite lights upgraded with your favourite LED's.I might just do the same with my Rotary.

Right?!?!
The Nichia equipped HDS was/is vaporware...Henry has never issued a statement that these would happen. As I understood it, it was just an idea Craig had that he ran by Henry. I never read that it was a 'go' from anyone who had any say in the matter (i.e. Henry).
McGizmo Haiku Review Mac's Tri EDC Review MY LIGHTS!! Why buy a cheap bright light when a dim expensive one will do?
Mine looks to be putting out close to 200 as well. The 219 might not be as efficient as an XP-G but it looks be more than the GDP.
The low on my clicky is as low or lower than it was with the GDP. It is a little hard to tell because the GDP has a much tighter beam than the 219

I'd be in for a Rotary if this ever comes to fruition.
Light is the activity of what is transparent - Aristotle
I'd also be interested in a Rotary if this happens.
Question - is modding a rotary HDS 200 lumen and adding the Nichia 92 a difficult project for a novice? Is there a tutorial out there?
Heck, I'm just waiting for a 120 to have modded to the Nichia.
There's a walkthrough here, not a great novice modding project.
Maybe check with Jake Royston over in the modding section.

Yeah, though you won't notice it at range, the GDP throws further but is less efficient. I had my Hds120 with GDP modded to a Nichia hi cri and it appears slightly brighter than my HDS120 hi cri XPG or my Novatac storm up close.
Nichia throw is almost the same as the hi cri XPG at 40 feet the brightness looks the same, and the hotspot still has nice definition.
I was afraid after getting the Malkoff M61 219 and seeing how floody it was but Think2x showed me some beamshots of his, and i was hooked
