Yes, greetings to you Jem, and may your health improve. I think we'll have many pics from this meet judging by some of the replies here. I just hope the rain doesn't stop us from doing our old exterior beamshots this time.
Hopefully you can attend sometime, you must let us know wherabouts you are to make a meet near you happen maybe.
I must remember to charge my camera too!
Countdown to the deluge continues. May we have a Fulking good time.
Thank you all for your kind words. I'll have my fingers crossed Saturday for dark skies & good weather. - Jem![]()
186,232 miles per second. The speed of the light from all our flashlights.
Lee, can you add one more to the list please, Vas will be coming with me. He is local to me so offered to bring him (and his toches) along.
Anymore?
Hi Vas, sorry I jumped in the thread before you posted. It will be good to have you along. Would you be so kind as to bring that little 1AA angle light you showed me the other week, i'd like to have a play.
Question for those that have been to the location before - when going for the walk, what type of ground are we going over? Footpath, grass, mud? Just so we know what footwear to bring along.
All of the above.
Mainly grass and footpaths which are simply where the grass has been worn out, so will be muddy if wet. We should able to get around or avoid any deep mud, so hopefully walking boots will be fine rather than needing wellies.
Unfortunately despite my attempts to will the weather to be good on Saturday, the weather forecasts are not great :-( - Did I propose the date for this meet?

In the argument between wellies and walking boots, I have one thing to say. You can only wallow with a welly.
Some part of me has always wanted to say that...
BTW - forcasts say rain should stop sometime between seven and nine that night, so at least we may be only wet underfoot.
Just have the usual struggle trying to decide what to bring and what to leave out now. It's made me realise that far too many of my lights only come out for CPF meets. Not exactly value for money if so.
Anyway, some vintage led lights from the formative years on CPF, a few EDC's, Aspherics, throwers etc - ah and a new old magnifying thing that should have people lying down on the ground and going "Ooooh!".
I am in charging mode. Wish I never looked at the Olight SR95UT
Hopefully the weather will be good, as I plan on wearing Goretex trainners.
"Ooooh!"

Yes, In the throw category that may be so, but then we move on to the torch with the most fling!

Torch with the most bling. Perhaps a Sunwayman V10R Ti2 gold pimped up with lots of trits.
I have just noticed the DEFT edc Enthusiast. I think it is the best looking DEFT EDC yet. Must summon strength not to buy one.
Blue LED - old light all done. 1950s chrome running a XPG P60 dropin with 2AA. It turned out better than I thought, going to EDC it for a few days.
As before I'll bring some paracord along. If anyone wants to learn how to make a lanyard/bracelet etc feel free ask.
But this is the once and only chance to buy. After these have gone, there are no more.
I agree it's a beautiful light (interesting that they photograph it with a soft focus, the way that they used to with 'glamour' shots in the 1970s) but I've decided that I can't possibly justify the expense.
Looks like it might be a dry day on the South Downs after all, at least by today's advance forecast. And we hope to have a good turn out too.

Table booked for 11 peeps at 6pm (i.e. have a light lunch!) Bring your torches and gadgets and cameras and wellies etc etc. Some of us are going to get there for lunch too and a nice walk on the Downs.
Amazingly, I am all charged and sorted - must have missed something.
Yeah, as you say, a lot of money especially with the import duty, handling fee etc.
I'm hoping OMG will turn their atttention to having a variable aspheric on the next batch - throw to flood and even different levels - as well as all the bling and EDC-ability. The old-unscrew-bezel-and-insert-plastic-film approach was just naff in my eyes. Must try harder!
As I said before, I'm very happy with my lights and their attributes at the moment, I'll wait for the next BIG thing to arrive. Be it new type of emitter (Nichia? Round? Multi colour?) or new type of optic or UI, or even just because Batman uses it in the next film and I find I must have it. Now!
See you Saturday.
I am looking forward to the Dereelight DBS aspheric upgrade. We may have a treat coming, Sub knows all about it. Hopefully it will arrive in time, so we can assess them.
See you Saturday![]()
Actually, I do too. But that's only because I'm shifty!!
Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha...(cough).
One day to go and I am still Charing. I should be finished by tonight and not sure if I should bring the VPT![]()
Ok I will finish charging by 6.30pm, but I am not sure about the big VPT Dedomed.
It started with a multimeter for checking out a ZTS battery tester, then the Integrating Sphere was added, and then I thought the oscilloscope should come as well, and while I am at it a laptop for logging and calculations. I suspect I shall need to bring a folding table as well to set this up on.
Oh, maybe I'd better bring a light or two as well.
