I am curious so I want to measure temperature on heatsinks and such.
I have little clue what thermometer to buy, and what to look for.

- Off the shelf
- Cost effective
- Small probe so that I can press it on a surface with a thermal interface material
- Want to buy more then one probe for spare and for having multiple test-rigs

I have seen digital multimeters with wired probe, but then it would be my third DMM.
I think the problem is in finding suitable sized and loose supplied thermocouples...
On Fleabay there are many thermometers but the shape and size of the thermocouples is unclear to me.

The thermocouples that look like a wire, an inch of heatshrink, and 5mm exposed metal look like they are workable for our use?
