Thread: Headlamp for close quarters work

Default Headlamp for close quarters work

I'm looking at the Zebralight head torches, H51, H51F primarily at the moment, for late night slug hunting on the lettuces etc. I'm thinking for close quarters stuff, near my feet and bent down looking closely at plants that I'd be better off with the Floody version, would you guys concur? Any other models I should consider in the same price range? Definitely looking for a single AA based light.

I have both of those and think the H51f would be perfect. I have the cool white one which is fine but you might look at the H51fc which has a high CRI emitter. It might improve the color/contrast between the slug and the lettuce.

I think the H51 (no f) might be more annoying although the spot with the slug on it would be a little brighter.

Is that model still available? I'm struggling to find an H51Fc in stock anywhere.. (I'm in the UK, so would prefer to buy from Europe to avoid import duties!)

I don't know. I do know that H51Fc is available from ZL website, and that once you have it you will probably find it to be very nearly perfect for the most demanding and precise tasks at arm's reach, and very good for most tasks within 30-50 feet. The color rendering and contrast is great, especially in the lower modes, great for spotting earth worms without scaring them into thier holes. Dog waste stands out in grass very well also for that matter without needing to use the higher settings... Great light for seeing what is what without blasting a bunch of lumens. Sorry about import tax.
