How does the sunwayman Variable output work

Does anyone have pics of a sunwayman taken apart? (one with the varialbe output)
Does the rotating action just function as a potentiometer,
or does it use some kind of magnetic sensor?

I am thinking about moding one of these into a laser,
and need to know how the adjustment works,
and if I will be able to use it.

Thanks!

The ring has 2 small magnets at 180 degrees on its inner periphery. The magnetic fuel is detected on the little circuit board inside the body.

I have actually made a custom ring that only needed 1 magnet which was slightly larger.

Cool thanks,
Do you know if the Circuit that reads the magnetic field outputs an analog voltage or a PWM signal?
Is the magnetic sensor on the same PCB as the driver?

Thanks for your help!

Not sure if it is analog or PWM. I could meassure the voltage - I suspect it is analog but I might be wrong.

There is only circuit board - combined driver and magnetic field detector.
