Carley don't have incan lamps for 6-cell rechargeables but they have three types of lamps for 5-cells. They are all rated 6-V but with different amp of 1.2, 1.5 and 1.7. Which one of these could I use on my 6-cell (7.2V) flashlight? Will they last long enough or blow out too quickly??

Cheers!

What kind of flashlight, what kind of rechargeable batteries, and where are you able to purchase Carley bulbs?
Any of the bulbs will last for at least 10 hours or more, as long as you let your cells rest after charging.
Unless you're planning on using 2 big IMR cells.

If you are using 6 rechargeable cells, Pelican 3854 (Low & Hi) will work fine. They are designed to work with 6 volts and perform very well at 7.2 volts.
For longer bulb life use Pelican 3853 which are designed for 7.2 volts. Also comes in package of Low & Hi
In either case, aluminum reflector and glass lens is necessary.

Unbranded rechargeable flashlight with NiMH 7.2V AA 6-cell battery pack 2400mAh. Would order direct from Carley.

If the light has a plastic reflector and lens, then the 1.2 amp bulb is probably as high as you can go without melting or deforming something. If all is metal and glass, then the 1.7 amp bulb will be fine. Rather than order the 1.7 amp bulb from Carley, who I believe have a $50 minimum order limit, you should go with the 1.7 amp 3854 Low that fivemega mentions above. It's made by Carley for Pelican.

If all else fails, get a MagnumStar 5 cell Xenon bulb. It pulls around 0.95 amps when driven with 6 cells, and will last at least 10 hours before flashing. Just remember to let the cells rest after charging.
