Greetings from a first-time poster. Thanks in advance for any help.

Looking for an under-$100 LED headlamp for reading at night in bed. Main requirement:

- dimmer for continuously controlling light output down to zero. (my goal is to use it at the minimum setting that will allow me to read ---and hence disturb my wife as little as possible)

Optional requirements:

- even illumination (very little hotspot)
- under $50

I will only be using this light at low output levels.

I saw that the surefire saint minimus has a dimmer switch, but it is a bit pricey.

Thanks again.

Zebralight H502c (or d). AA, High CRI neutral white, flood, current regulated, 0.34 lumens, which I find about perfect to read by with my Quark. 3 weeks runtime at the level too.

I would recommend a narrower beam. Back when I had a H50 with a 120 degree beam like the H502 has and my wife would complain about the light coming out the sides. She complained a lot less when I got my H501 with it's 80 degree beam.

bwm and reppans: thanks so much for your advice. I'm going with one of the zebralights that you recommend.
