Can anyone explain this interference?

PWM will do weird things to camera sensors, depending on what kind they are. I don't have a more in-depth explanation than that, but it is definitely the PWM messing with the sensor, but not damaging. You can actually use those pictures to calculate the duty cycle of the PWM at the different levels. You can see that on high, duty cycle is around 99%, since 99% of the picture is lit up.

That's not actually high, just a different emitter on low.
