Iím new to the world of good flashlights and am looking for an EDC light. Looking around a bit, I'm liking the Eagletac D25C Mini. In particular, I like that it:
Takes a single CR123a,
Is nice and small with a fixed pocket clip,
Is capable of producing 200+ lumens OTF
(I know, I know, lumens ratings aren't comparable to one another, but just note that I like the output), and
Is available for USD $40.00.
The one thing I don't care for is that it's a twisty. I have seen the clicky version of this light, but I'm not sure I care for the interface on that either. Why canít I access the highest Turbo output along with the rest? What's the POINT of a mode that just goes between Turbo and Strobe? Why couldn't the D25C Clicky be just like the D25C, but... clicky?
I was considering just ignoring my (admittedly minor) complaints with these lights and choosing one or the other, but then I figured that as a newb I really don't know my options very well, so why not ask you guys first? Note that while I am partial toward clickies, what I really don't like is the back-and-forth, back-and-forth twisty motion to change modes; I might not mind a twisty with a different action.
TL;DR - Want something with size, output, and price similar to the Eagletac D25C, but without the twisty action of the Mini or the unnecessary "output groups" of the Clicky.
