    Default Cree XP-G & XML led's

Hello, I am new to the forum and sort of new to the latest led technology. I have been researching and reading several forums and articles. While I was searching for a decent led light that I could use in a headband as a headlamp a couple of questions occurred to me. It appears that the XML led lights are better if you prefer a good amount of flood in a lighting system. I was wondering if the Cree XP-G lights would provide enough flood for a person jogging in a dark jogging trail with little to no light? The reason that I ask is I noticed that FourSevens does not currently offer an XML led in the 123 Tactical version. I kind of like the idea of having the Tactical version so that I can program which mode comes on first. But I also like the XML led in the Quark Mini X thinking that it will provide better flood, however I don't like the fact that there isn't really any in between modes you just get low, medium and high aside from sos, and beacon modes. The 123 Tactical gives you a few more choices in between the low and high modes. I especially like the idea of having the moonlight mode for not disturbing others whilst looking for something. However having said that I do like the size of the Mini X as it would make a great headlamp and pocket light as well as being a decent little flood light in a small package.

XP-G R5s are plenty floody. XM-Ls are very floody

You'll be fine jogging with anything hosting either LED

if you get the light and would prefer more flood (I doubt you will for jogging) there is always the frosted scotch tape over the lens trick

Depending on how often you go jogging, the Quark MiNi X could get pretty expensive. It has only 1 hour runtime on high and it's not approved for use with rechargeables. Also, some reviews say it gets pretty hot on high. The only useful setting for jogging would be medium @ 45 lumens.

The Quark 123 or the Quark AA (either the Tactical or Regular UI) would probably be better choices as you would have more choices in output and the option to use rechargeables.

either is fine. I think the flood depends more on the design of the reflector.
