2.4v battery pack with universal connection question
So I'm going to take this Mathmos Bump lamp camping and to Burning Man with me. It's a cool trippy lamp but it uses a 2.4v 1000mah aa battery pack and a 1.2v battery pack both connected with universal connectors. These easiest thing to do would be to buy like 7 packs and pre-charge them before I leave. Is that about the only option I have? I am ok with that option but I am wondering if there is anyway to charge these packs aside from putting them in the lamp and charging them?
Thanks for the help! I am only used to working with aa/aaa single rechargeables.

Re: 2.4v battery pack with universal connection question
Would it fit to find a AA battery holder and add the correct connector? 1000mAh is half the capacity of Eneloops, so looks like you could easily double your run-time or more if you could use standard loose cells, instead of a dedicated pack.
