A Firefly with a set of Madmax modules (TBD) and Luxeon 3W colored emitters. Complete set. 100% of the proceeds will goto CPF.
Where did I get this lunacy idea??? I have no idea. The idea just spurred up on moments notice.
This will be a collectors item. There are no Madmax modules built from the factory (me) that have the new Luxeon 3W on them. The first ones will be built and sold with this Firefly. I aquired this from another CPF'er from the BST for $90.00.
Keep an eye out for it. I hope to have the modules made shortly. I haven't decided what the final package of goodies will consist of. Of course any comments suggestions or discussion is welcome.
It might be better if this is moved to a better location. I'll leave that up to someone else.
****EDITED******
One Firefly as is. With Retaining ring and split ring. This Firefly did not have a Madmax Q3 module in it. I believe this one is brand new, the owner had two and sold one in BST. I received it Wed, 29th Oct.
The following modules will be included with the Firefly.
1 Madmax regular Wide Open Module with 3W SV0J White HD
1 Madmax regular Wide Open Module with 3W Royal Blue HD
1 Madmax regular Wide Open Module with 3W Green HD
I prefer Paypal with $90.00 going to me and the rest to be paid directly to CPF.
The sale will end Sunday Midnight PST unless there is some reason to extend it. I know, PST is not good for some of you. If there is a better time for the cutoff, sound off here. The colored modules depending on position in the head, and alignment with the optics can produce an off center beam (circle inside the square). This is being sold as is. Highest bidder takes all. After this closes the payment instructions will be sent to the winning bidder.

Wow, a SS sale and now this! Lemme check yo' calendar Wayne, you might have it turned to the end of December by mistake...
This is exciting, thanks for doing it. Just the sort of light I've been hankering for. I'd rather have this than an LSH-P.

The Cyan looked too similar to the Green so it was taken out of the package. Sasha, The Cyan module is yours if you want it.
The final details of payment are as follows. I prefer Paypal with $90.00 going to me and the rest to be paid directly to CPF.

Good luck. Happy bidding.

Copied to the first post. The first post will be kept current.

I got a partial or I think that is what it was sold as without a module. It came to me with no retaining ring for the module. I don't know if that is normal or not. I'm sure if you need one you can get it from the local HW store or from DSpeck.

Well sheesh! When I read the post, Wayne had just stated the final package. I didn't scroll up and see that folks had already bid! Heck, for a while , I thought I was a contender! Duh!!
3 watt Luxeon follow the new Bin code system that Lumileds announced not too long ago. It's hard to tell from the datasheets, but, IMHO the 3 W are possibly the premium 1W. They are spec'd at 700mA and 1000. The die is the same as the 1W.
Comparing a 1W vs a 3W at the same current, I would think the 3W would be slightly brighter with the same driver driving both of them.
The ones I've seen so far and that is only a few seconds of turn on time is that the one I used in this module has a nice white beam. White is relative and I can never be sure what white is.

For us slower folks, what does the 3-watter do that we don't find in the 1-watters? Is it whiter, brighter, longer runtime, etc?

From what I can see so far (still have to get my greedy hands on a few of them...), they are:
- single chip (like the 1W)
- use the thicker lead frame (like the 5W)
- use the direct mount to the aluminium star (like the 5W)
- are spec'ed for 700/1000 mA
- are spec'ed for 10k hour lifetime (like the 1W)
- should have a light output comparable to the high end 1W at similar current
So, you may regard them as legally overdrivable high-quality 1W
Oh, and if you use more than one in your design: the star is not isolated against the LED (like the 5W, unlike the 1W), so you'll either have to think hard about an isolated screw mount (isolating sheet and nylon screws?) or just epoxy them down...
