Hi,

Does anyone know a source of borosilicate lenses. I can design the head around the lens, but need a couple of sizes including approimately 60x10mm and 20-30mm in 6mm thickness.

Alunatec sell thes 60mm, but don't sell the small ones I need.

I've search the forum but only came up with a few dud links and lots of noise.

thanks, damien

I'm building a light that needs to go deep. Assuming a 60-63mm boro lens, does anyone know whether a 10mm thickness will handle 200m/21bar/300psi?

I've looked at the calculator linked to in the library, but to honest can't make sense of the material types. http://www.ispoptics.com/designofpressurewindow.htm

Damn, 300psi??? I had a 3mm crack around 80psi... If it is linear then 10mm should be right on the edge. Now, it also depends on how much support you have behind the lens. Is the lens only held by the circumference of the head, or will it have support behind it?

Damien if you click on katalog icone an download it from dev-pein.de you have parameters and formula on page 97

in your case you have with d=10mm ; @ 60mm glass/45mm diameter window and holds 16 bar ; @ 63mm glass/48mm diameter window also 16 bar

but I think that in that formula is also included safety factor which gives you less MOD

Again, those calcs depend on how you support the back of the lens.
