I just found this charger on the Shining Beam website, showing as "New." Anyone familiar with it? Here are the listed specs:

* Charges 18650 and 17670 Li-Ion batteries
* Two separate charging channels allows you to charge 2 different brands of 18650/17670 at the same time

Input: AC100-240V, 50/60Hz
Output: 4.2V with current up to 500mA per channel

Dimensions: 4.1 in x 2.3 in x 1.5 in
Weight: 4.75 oz

Price is $11.95 plus s/h. Obviously not a top-of-the-line charger, but Bryan seems to offer pretty good products. Any concerns with an inexpensive unit like this?

For about the same price, I went with the Xtar WP2 II, which is tested by HKJ here and does pretty well. Its singular fault is that it doesn't charge all of the time, to 100%, but that's not entirely a bad thing.

It'll do most of the Li-Ions from 18650s down to 16340s (with spacers) and it works pretty well.

You can even charge a USB device from Bay 1, with a Li-Ion in place.

About $18 shipped if you look around.

Thanks for the reply, Chris. I have the XTAR MP1S (USB Li-ion Charger SET), which I purchased thru illuminationGear (around $13). It does a decent job for all that I do, but it only has one channel, so I can only charge one Li-ion at a time.

Not really new device, I'm using one as the default charger for my Jetbeam 18650's. The minor bug is that mine cuts off at 4.22V, but no big deal b/c with Li-ions I like to trust my DMM rather than my charger. Charge duration may be another little quirk, since it takes almost 5 hrs to fully charge an empty 2300mAh battery.

Cheers

Thanks, tam17. By listing this charger as "New," I think it's new to the Shining Beam website.

Just curious, does this unit have a USB charging option like my XTAR MP1S, or is it strictly AC plug-in?

There's no USB port of any kind on this charger. AC plug-in (fixed cord) only.

Cheers
