    parts i need:

    reflector
    batteries
    3AA to 1D adapters

IYO what are the best parts for this build.

Looking at the second thread from the top you'll see the "Threads of interest" thread. There are two threads in there that you should look at.

The only advice I can give you would be to go with a 6AA to 2D adapter instead of two 3AA to D adapters.

Another option to the 6X AAs is to use 2x 18650, 0r 2x 26650. Depending on the light's internal resistance, you could poof the ROP high bulbs though if you don't rest the batteries.

    Metal reflector
    Borosilicate glass lens
    ROP bulbs
    Batteries

Build an ROP! I built several, but it's my old beat-up Maglite D that gets the most use! You'll like it. The WA 1111 and WA1185 are great bulbs if you can find a G4 bi-pin adapter. Select your bulb before choosing batteries.
