Looks like a slimmed down version of the PD32. Advantages?

    Price point and more throw.

I'm looking for a small 18650 flashlight for EDC, if this model fits a 69.6mm battery I'll try one, I'm am scratching my head about the LED, I thought a XML would give better run time, but this torch doesn't have a big price tag. Is this the time of year that many makers release new models? (yes, noob here)

That extra millimeter of length will be a tight fit if this light is anything like my TK15 in the terms of the battery compartments size. As far as the LED goes, this is not an XM-L light. This light uses a smaller, less efficient LED that is good for getting high candela (throw) in a small package. The down side is the runtime is shorter, though to be honest 2 hours 48 minutes runtime on high is very nice. It would take me quite some time to burn through that.

Well, the PD32 is brighter yes but, it doesn't throw as far. The PD32 hits about 5000 candela vs the E35s 7700 candela. It's not that much of an increase but, it is a bump. It's just a more focused beam is all, personal preference between the two if beam shape was your biggest concern. Just to point out that you can still see as far if that makes any difference to you.

it's dark, user pulls out the E35, takes 30 seconds to figure out which end is the head or the tail. takes add'l 30 seconds to find the flat side button. takes a few dozen presses to get to the desired output, after overshooting it a few times.

the mass-market fenix that uses non-mass-market batteries

Low price, simple design, good knurling and well chosen brightness modes. I like it!

Haha! nice point! It's best to attach the lanyard so it'd be easy to know head from tail!

Well, mass market pricing but lets just hope the quality is not mass market either.
