I think for location, a place where there was less ambient light might be better. It was kinda hard to play with all the toys Depending on how many people are going to show and what day, I might be able to host it at my house and do a BBQ if the weather is good, or take out if it is not so good. I have a very dark garage and a moderately dark back yard (depending on the phase of the moon) if we want to play with lights. My table can seat 8 pretty comfortably, 10 if were really friendly. I live about 5 minutes off 101 and 280 near SFO, so I am even relatively centrally located. If we get more than 10 I would probably then cast my vote for a pizza place or similar that has a private room were we can flash everyones lights without offending the other patrons.
Finally tripped over this thread. I work at SFO and live in Hayward, so most anything's ok for a spot. Could bring some odd bits and LEDs as well as some of the CCFL stuff I've been messing with.. Would love to chat mods and such.
Could bring a hot soldering iron, too..
At this point, this week is pure chaos for me. I will have to bail, but, if someone still wants to host a get together that would still be OK. I won't be able to attend this week.
I would like to see you guys again and meet some of you for the first time but I will have to wait until a meet is scheduled in April or later. That is unless we can meet on Maui? I know some good quality dark places over there!
I would be up for waiting a week or two, if we could get better attendence. It would give more time for people to work it into their schedules. Bummer Don can't make it...he brings really cool toys.
Thursday is probably best for me right now...but it doesn't look like we are getting much trafic here. I think we need to nail down a date 1st, even if it is a couple of weeks from now that way everyone can plan for it.
OK, For lack of structure, I will suggest:
6:30pm next Wednesday, March 3rd (Unfortunately, the following day is the one Thursday I can't make it...)
at Dat2Zip's favorite Thai restaurant
As an alternate, how about Friday March 12th.
Let's have a show of hands to see which works better for whom...
And let's get a new list of who can make it.
I'm in for either.

My schedule is wide open (unfortunately). I would like to avoid heavy traffic though. I'm guessing a 5:30-6:30 pm drive for the location mentioned by jpeg. If that time frame has reasonable driving conditions then the dates listed would work fine for me.
March 3rd is better for me. Fridays in general are tough for me. The only thing I would like to mention is that there isn't really anywhere down at My Thai to play with lights. Maybe a pizza place or resturant with a private room or something would be better...just a thought. Either way, count me in.
unnerv, do you know te area? I work in Hayward so I can do some scouting, but if you have a place in mind mapQuest it here and we can go there... I like pizza too!
Sorry, I live out by SFO and am not really familiar with anything on that side of the bay. I'll check with a few buddies at work and see if they have any suggestions.
So it looks like the March 3 attendance so far will be:

Were still tentatively set for "My Thai" at 6:30,
unless unnerv or I come up with an alternate location we can all agree on.
Maybe Wayne knows a good dark place nearby...
I'll PM Wayne and see if this date works for him.
If it does not get too much bigger than this, and you guys don't mind driving up to SFO, we can do it at my house. I have a 20 foot deep dark garage, and a decent sized back yard without too much light around (except the mostly full moon that night.) I can sit upto ten in my dining room if we all get cozy, and could order pizza or if not raining possibly a bbq. I will probably have two others with me, so that will bring us up to 6. Anyway, let me know if you all wanna come over, otherwise, it is looking like My Thai again.
Great offer unnerv! Thanks for checking the state of the moon too, I didn't think of that.
Pizza or BBQ at your house and a nice dark garage sounds awesome to me.
SFO is actually about 20 miles closer for Erik and I, and I know that Dan will use any excuse to drive his new Prius.
Wayne gave me a definite "maybe" but if he does come, he said he might have some new boards to show off...
Woo hoo, it's a party now...
I hope Wayne and Cindy can make it. It is always nice to see what he is working on so I know what I need order from the shoppe.
Anyway, since it looks like it will be my place, everyone please PM me for directions. I am in San Bruno, between 280 and 101, about 5 min from SFO so it is pretty easy to get to. We'll play the food by ear depending on the weather, and if I get to make a costco run between then and now, so it will either be pizza, or burgers and dogs.
Glad to see we actually have a date, time and place nailed down.
March 3 eh? Traffic might be a killer from the east bay to make it by 6:30. Anyone know how long it would take to get from Berkeley to San Bruno around that time? I'd be leaving right at 5 I do wanna go though.
felder I think the biggest hurtle will be the Bay Bridge. I have never done the drive during rush hour, but it takes about 35 minutes or so on the weekend. If you want to come don't worry about being late. I am sure we'll be here at least to 9 or 10pm.
