The new Zebralight SC32 (single CR123) has just been posted on Zebralight's website (click on the button that says "Compare all Models" on their homepage.) Not much info on it yet, but looks like they plan on releasing it in November...nice! It will have the XML LED in it, and should follow along with the newer design (like the SC600 & SC80 & H502.) It should have the same UI as the H502. I'm hoping for the newer/stiffer switch like on the SC600 and a screw on pocket clip....both better for edc. Hopefully it will support a rechargeable Li-ion battery as well. Very interesting so far!

The SC52 was recently announced, and they plan on releasing it this month. Zebralight has a good bit of info about the SC52 on their site already, so hopefully we will see more info on the SC32 in the next few days.

Below are some stats on the SC52 ***AA Version*** that Shelm posted 2 weeks ago on another thread:

  • Cree XM-L spill + spot (6300K, 65CRI)
  • 1x AA/14500
  • same UI as H502: 11 modes
  • all levels current regulated, no PWM (AA and 14500)
  • low battery auto step down (AA and 14500)
  • 1x 14500: Max 500lm (1min)
  • 1x Eneloop AA: Max 280lm/0.9hrs, Low 0.01lm/3months
  • recessed switch
  • weight: 1.5oz (~42.5g), i.e. hopefully better :duh2: looks
  • length: 3.1in (~79mm)
  • bezel diameter: 0.93in (~23.6mm lol)
  • initial release: Oct 2012 / MSRP 64US$

We should expect similar performance & design from the SC32 (CR123 light,) but in a smaller package compared to the above SC52 (AA light.)

Wow. I've definitely been waiting for this one. I'll definitely be getting myself an SC52 as well (and it will probably become my primary gift light) but I always have 123 primaries lying around so the idea of all those an lumens and run time on a primary is awesome. I have to imagine it will support RCRs since even the SC32 did and it will probably make 500 lumens as well but again, I'm more interested in the performance on primaries.

Another awesome light. And I'm sure it will find fans.

For my own tastes, the availability of 14500 support in the AA format means that the 123-format has no advantages.
(That's why I have EDC'ed an AA titanium Quark for years now, with a 14500 in it, and a 3-volt 14500 Lithium primary, i.e. half a CRV3, on hand as a back-up.)

But some people really like the smaller size of the 123 format, and for them this will be pretty awesome.

There are lots of different boats out there that need floating, and I'm glad ZL is committed to doing it.

I wonder if this means they will either updated the H502 or simply say "14500 is o.k. with H502"

I wonder what the T5 will do differently besides being a tail switch light?

I hope its a rugged light with a simpler UI or something.

Hello World!
That sure looks really promising :)If only the Q50 released as a Q52 :p We would be doing 1120 lumens from 4 eneloops! and 2240 from 8 omgzor...

Since I have two sc52's on the way, I'll have to keep one of them in the box to sell off for the purpose of trying out the new sc32.

Its NOT out yet. ZL always have their future lights on their Compare sheet... It is moved to the flashlight section of the sheet though. When it become a light you can select and pre-order, then let us know. Getting everyone excited for no reason...

somebody just wants a thread that will never die. me too, me too...

I'm a big fan of the 1xCR123A format. The only XM-L light I have is a Fenix TK41. Wonder what the beam will look like in such a small light...

Anyone hazard to guess the run times between the sc52 and the new comer, the sc32? I am also curious to know if the sc32 will be given the ultra low .01 lumen moonlight mode.

I'm not sure on primary batteries, but I do believe there will be a big difference with rechargeable Li-ion batteries. In a recent runtime test I did using a Quark Turbo QB2A head with a single 14500 and then a single RCR123, I got about 29% less runtime using the RCR123. I used AW brand 14500 and RCR123. It annoys me that both batteries are rated at 750mah. The RCR123 should be rated at 533mah!

Very very very floody.....which I really like in most of my edc lights.

I ought to try EDCing a more floody light. Right now it's a foursevens Mini-ML with the XP-G2, so it's a little floody but has a decent hotspot. My Fenix E15 is floodier... I think that's an old XP-E.

With the wider CR123, the SC32 will look more proportionally correct. (I find the SC52 to be a bit on the bulbous side.)

Oh that does look good. Yes; better than the SC52 I think in someways. They just need to release 'w' versions of all these new lights, I don't want to buy both as I did in the past.
