    Default Test/Review of Efest IMR14500 V1 700mAh (Red)

    Efest IMR14500 V1 700mAh (Red)

    Official specifications:
    • Nominal Voltage: 3.7v
    • Battery Model: 14500 V1 Capacity: 700mAh
    • Positive: Flat top
    • Cycle Life: 500 Cycles
    • Max Charging Rate: 4.5amps

I got a pile of batteries in one envelope, not the best way to ship batteries, even when they are shrink wrapped. Efest have changed their packing.

The tracking between the batteries are not perfect, this is probably related to the bump in the discharge curve for the A battery.

    Conclusion

These IMR batteries have good performance at high loads, but the capacity is, of course, not that high.
At the current time I can only rate them acceptable, because Efest is a new company, and the batteries is not from one of the big brands.

Nice review again, HKJ - thank you.

With the imperfect discharge tracking between your two cells, would it be unwise to use two such cells together in a light?

I do not like using unprotected cells in series, the risk of over discharge and reverse polarizing a cell is to large. The about 3% difference in capacity will slightly increase the problem.

    Thanks for the review :-)

Is it known which brand and type they use as core cells?

I have no imformation about what factory makes the Efest IMR cells, some of their other batteries uses cells from well known brands.

    Hi,

    In this thread:

    http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...en-Master-250)

I just reported that when I used this battery in one of my lights, it appears that the tailcap switch got damaged. Presumably this was because the IMR battery was sourcing so much current that it damaged something in the tailcap switch.

Has anyone heard of something like that?

I was kind of surprised that the LED didn't blow before the tailcap switch.

    Thanks,
    Jim

It might also be the led or driver that died.

    Hi,

Sorry, I might've neglected to say:

    1) If I switch the tailcap from another light to the "bad" light, the "bad" light works again, and
    2) I tested jumpering the neg end of the battery to the threads and the light worked.

That was why I concluded that the problem was with the tailcap switch.

    Jim
