Know a few people here come from Arizona, wonder if anyone knows anything more about this strange roadside joint:

Not the only Titan silo on ebay at the moment:

Virtual Tour of another silo:

The Atlas homepage:

In the UK we never had underground launched missiles, our bunkers are smaller command and control type efforts:

This is one of my own pages, guess few of us here are into urban exploration.

Alot of strange things were built in the 1950's and 1960's in response to the Cold War issues. Hundreds, if not thousands on military facilities have been decommisioned and sold off.

In my area a significant Naval Airstation (Moffett Field) has been converted to a Federal Air Field.

To the south, Fort Ord which was a significant Army training center during Vietnam was converted, it now has housing and a new University on it's grounds.

VERY interesting!! I used to hunt at an "undisclosed location" in Arizona and there was this building surrounded by barbed wire, cameras, and all that... no windows visible...strangest thing in the middle of nowhere. I always wondered what it could be, but it just looked like one of those "I shouldn't ask" type situations. I often wondered if it could be something like this and/or some sort of "Federal Safehouse"...letting the mind wander/wonder a little...never took pictures and have never spoken about it until now...move along, nothing to see here! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

(Probably doing alien autopsies there as I type!)

Adam - I wondered who did that page!! I found it doing a general search of the www for urban exploration stuff. Do you do this sort of thing?
I'll move this to email to avoid hijacking your thread...

I was going to post something about Triggur's Silo Tour but I see it was already posted. A very interesting look into a missile silo.

I took a tour of a decommissioned Titan site on my honeymoon (What I gal I married to put up with that!!!)in 1989. It was somewhere near Tuscon. Almost everything was still there except the missile. We also took a tour of the military airplane graveyard at nearby Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. At that time it was a training base for the A-10 Warthog so we had a little A-10 air show while we toured the base.

The link to the Triggur silo was quite interesting. For some reason, looking at the photos and imagining how dark and quiet it must have been down there gave me the creeps. It must be something about an abandoned dark and rusty nuclear missile silo. It got my imagination running now. Why was some of the area flooded? What's in the dark water? What other surprises might the silo hold that has not been discovered by the explorers and vandals? Imagine if I was down there alone?

This is starting to feel like some kind of horror movie. Better stop thinking about this. I'm getting goosebumps.
