I feel it is the right time to start talking about our first meet of 2013 in its own new thread :)

Inspired by BLUE LED's suggestion of the torchlight tour of Brighton's Theatre Royal, I have spoken to the Theatre and before taking things further, need to know how many would be interested.

For this particular event, the only two dates are:

Friday 25th Jan 2013
6.30pm or 8pm

Saturday 26th Jan 2013
6.30pm or 8pm

£8

The Theatre is located very near to the Brighton Sea Front, and east of the pier further up Madeira drive the beach is not well lit (so a possible location for a light show of our own making). Plenty of places to eat and sit down to talk lights.

If there is interest in this event, I will look into a few more suggestions.

So far the Theatre has said that the tour has up to 30 people (currently 25 spaces left) and they usually try to keep the lighting low and spooky, so we may have to limit our lumens for the sake of the others, but if we do go, I'll ask if we can break away at some point to light up the main stage ourselves :)

Any takers?

I would prefer Saturday 26th Jan 2013, but I can make the Friday too.

Count me in on Saturday 26th!

Lets meet up before for a bit of lunch? or tea and a swift blow on the prom (!).

And maybe afterwards we can light up the piers before the last train home.

If they want low and spooky, I have plenty of greens, blues reds uvs etc etc.

Lunch and lighting up piers sounds like an excellent idea. I have a blue LED and some low powered neutral and warm LED's for effect.

So far we are looking like 4:

Subwoofer + Mrs Subwoofer
BLUE LED
Nyctophiliac

I'd like to book some tickets, so we need to decide on the 18:30 or 20:00 time slot.

I was thinking more of an early evening meal rather than lunch for the meet and our 'show and tell', so would propose the 20:00 tour.

Does this work for you?

My suggestion of the 20:00 tour (on Saturday 26 Jan) of course does not preclude lunch for those making a day of visiting Brighton, nor the lighting up to the piers :)

I'll have super low output lights as well as Blue, Red, Green and UV lights.

I'm not available for either date I'm afraid.

I seem to have burned up my brownie points by going to the US again....

But can't you offer to take Mrs Meganoggin to the Theatre - Brighton's Theatre Royal - and book a couple of tickets for a special show?

I'm in, don't mind what time we do the tour and i'm up for making a day of it.

Haven't got much to show off but maybe that will have changed by the 26th.

Excellent.

I may only be able to make it for the afternoon (after lunch) so will have to make a ruling that there is no showing off gear until we are all gathered, and can all join in :)

I'm not sure if I can make that one yet I'll have to let you know in a few days. I see on the gadget show that they are going to review high powered torches next week, don't miss it. Also, did anybody see the special edition Klenex paper hankies that they did for Christmas? Every time to take one out the box the stars on the outside sparkle. Built in led's and fiber optics to spread the light out.

Yep, we had some and they were rather splendid. Once the tissues were all gone I ended up ripping the guts out of it but it was just some crummy plastic fibres and a small LED. It was also very sticky so I ended up in a right messand it quickly went in the bin.

As for the meet, count me in! Junk-O-Lantern-II is finished and ready for public display/ridicule. All I will say is that it features three light emitters, one of which is an HID...

All sounding good. It may be time to buy some tickets if we are decided on the 20:00 tour.

I'll bring the Predator X, amongst others, but nothing too heavy as I'll most likely come on public transport. Tempted to bring the 9 x XM-L 3700lm light, but it is quite heavy.

Just a quick update:

Quoted ticket price £8

ATG online ticket booking adds an admin fee of £1.90 to each ticket and then there is a £2.85 transaction fee added as well.

So £8 becomes £12.75

This annoys me somewhat, and would do even if I were buying £40 tickets.

I'm going to call the Theatre directly and see if there is another option.

Update later....
