Which kind of Li-Ion are regular 18650 and 14500 batteries commonly discussed here?

From the following site we see that the term "Li-Ion battery" is actually rather generic:

My question is this: Which chemistry addressed above is the one used in the Sanyo UR14500P cell (used in Zebralight's ZL584 584 mAh 14500 battery) and in the Panasonic NCR18650A cells (used in the Redilast 3400 mAh 18650 battery) as seen on the IlluminationSupply.com website, for example? Presumably, this would be the same chemistry in most all the 14500 and 18650 batteries most typically discussed on CPF. Is that correct?

Thanks for helping me get it straight.

The regular or common chemistry is the ICR or LiCoO2 chemistry, this is also used about the NMC chemistry (This is the chemistry with most capacity at the current time).

Note: ICR is the IEC (Standard organization) name for round cells with LiCoO2 chemistry.

Yep, ICR is generally more common, but IMR is still relatively frequently used here (especially for ultra-high output torches with large current draws).

Both IMR and ICR are available in (for example) 14500 and 18650, however, since that terminology specifies the size of the cell.

When discussion IMR batteries, they are usual specified as IMR, not just a LiIon batteries.
