I have a bike light system (Magicshine from DX) which I am happy with except for the necessity of the main power on/off being to unplug one of the cables. I have had frequent failure of the Y cable used to connect up the front and rear lights to the battery and fixed this (after buying too many spares) by dipping the connectors into PlastiDip to increase body bulk. This works great. Now it would be even better to be able to use an inline or in cable switch so that the battery can remain in circuit but compleletly off. So I need a source of a suitable waterproof inline switch. If I can source the switch I can cut an extension cable to shorten it and as a source of the waterproof connectors.

Has anybody been through this and found a suitable switch ?

I've used a switch by Judco. They make a decent boot that will seal up the pushbutton portion of the switch. The rest of the switch isn't really waterproof, but a good coating of Plasti-dip should take care of that. As you've noticed, Plasti-dip is really quite handy for making electronics nearly waterproof.

Digikey carries Judco goodies. The boots are there...

There are a lot of versions of the switches....

I recommend the versions with the built in wires.
