Do people here think this G9 bulb will be OK?

I've been waiting for MaxLite to finally ship a new mini G9 retrofit bulb that they announced back in November (see http://www.maxlite.com/wordpress/?p=4129). Today I was told that they've discontinued it (without ever having shipped any). So, I'm looking again. I found one made by "Enjoydeal" on Amazon. It's apparently made in China, which gave me pause, but on the other hand Philips makes many of their bulbs in China. I was hoping that a few of you could take a look at the info on this bulb and give me your opinion on whether it looks like a good bulb. Should I be concerned about any safety issues (I rather doubt it's UL listed, though it doesn't say or not). It's at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F9SW3OY/?tag=cpf0b6-20 .

Note: The dimensions listed on Amazon are incorrect; it's actually 50mm L x 15mm diameter.

Thanks!

Did you check the dimensions?
Product Dimensions 8 x 7 x 3 inches;
Specification: Size: 15 x 50MM(Dia x H).
Hope the 1st one is the box dimensions.

The LEDs are enclosed.
Cannot accidentally touch the electronics and electrocute yourself - good.

The LEDs are enclosed.
Traps heat. 6W - 1.25W light = 4.75W heat in a tiny (I trust the 15Ø*50H) bulb could mean a short life - bad.

A similar 36 LED (also 3014 type LEDs) bulb at superbrightleds is rated 188 lumens. So a 64 LED bulb should be 334 lumens.

The driver should be fairly similar to JTR1962's 24 LED circuit (minus C2 to save on costs).

BTW
What are G9 bulbs used for?
Were they originally those super hot tiny halogens?

Thanks very much for the reply, LEDninja, it's very helpful. See detailed replies below.

Me too! 15x50mm would work great; the other, impossible.

It sounds like you're saying that even if they're not UL listed, that they should be safe to use?

These are going to be used in wall sconces above our fireplace only for mood lighting, perhaps a few hours per week. So while possibly a short life by LED standards, hopefully with just a small amount of use per week they'll last for a good number of years.

Great, that's about the level I need.

In this case, pendant light sconces. And yes, they will replace extremely hot halogens, which is why I want to switch to LEDs.

Thanks again.

The Maxlite mini G9 retrofit 3W 295 lumen LED bulbs finally became available a few days ago. I bought two from ProLighting (http://www.prolighting.com/skg0903led27.html) for my wall sconces, and they work great. These are relatively small, UL listed, and look good. They produce MUCH less heat than the 40W halogen bulbs they replaced, which was my main purpose for getting them (plus putting less load on our houses old wiring). I thought people here might want to know about their availability.
