Hello guys, my first MT-G2 flashlight arrived ca. one week ago, I would like to share my experience

Operation

Turn ON/OFF

Press down and release the tail-switch to turn the flashlight on/off.
1. Switch ON: Press the tail cap button down completely until a "click" sound is heard and flashlight turns on.
2. Switch OFF: Press the tail cap button down a second time until a "click" sound is heard and light is turned off.

Changing Modes

With the light turned on, rotating the Control Ring to select six levels of brightness, stand-by and strobe smoothly.


My Impressions

Pros

+ Very nice and practical packing, the carrying case quality is very similar as Olight SR9x series carrying cases
+ Excellent build quality, machining quality, scratch free anodizing
+ Nice design
+ Perfectly centered led, excellent beam quality without rings!
+ Dust free reflector and AR coated lens, both looks high quality
+ Easy one hand operation



+ Standby mode on the ring
+ NO pwm flickering, NO buzzing sound, all modes perfect! (pwm flickering free "feature" is one of the most important thing for me)
+ Well spaced modes
+ Real low mode with extreme long runtime (0.3lm, 46 days)
+ The MT-G2 led performance looks really awesome with beautiful neutral white tint
+ Good throwing capable, but the beam is versatile and suitable in lot of situations
+ Battery holder no rattle in the tube
+ You can use standard 18650 size unprotected cells easily, batteries fit perfectly. This is a good point for me (I recommend unprotected cells for advanced users only!)
+ Excellent knurling surface on body tube
+ Simple UI, left to right: 0.3lm, 24lm, 380lm, 950lm, 1600lm, 2750lm, standby and strobe
+ Tail stand / candle mode capable (stable)
+ Simple, good quality holster
+ Good price/value ratio

Cons

- No real cons for me now, maybe, the control ring could be more precise (slightly moving up and down direction)

Other comments

I would like a real-time battery indicator (Supbeam X60 solution would be perfect)
I hope more and more MT-G2 flashlights coming in near future, this led is simply awesome
Now this is one of my favourite flashlight, I hope long time reliability will be OK

Do you have any experience with the Niwalker Vostro BK-FA02 MT-G2 in comparison to the TN35?

As a photographer I'd love to see your setup for taking pics. Does that powershot have full manual controls? Your pics are always so nice. What lights are you using? Anything through a softbox or some kind of diffuser? Or separate flashes? Enlighten me

yes I use full manual controls, but I don't have other photo equipments (softbox etc), I'm not a photographer. I use flashlight and one white carton paper and some tricks. Overall, I need many many working hours for these pictures.


Bass, sorry I don't have Niwalker Vostro. But I have Jetbeam DDR30, Microfire L500R V3 NW, Fenix RC40, Olight SR96, Fenix TK76, Blackshadow Terminator T6 NW, Foursevens Maelstrom MMU-X3 and some smaller flashlights.But I need more time for beamshot pics, now the weather is not good.

Does the TN35 have low voltage warning and cutoff? Personally, I feel more comfortable using unprotected cells only in lights with good, reliable low voltage warning and cutoff.

Now I tested (2750 lumen mode) with 3400mAh unprotected Panasonic cells and I've not seen flickering or low voltage warning, but when the voltage drop ~2.8-3V I've not seen difference between 950-1600-2750lm. I not tested more time, when I removed the batteries last time, the voltages was 2.6-2.7V. This is too low for longer test. (as you know 3400mAh cells voltage range 2.5V-4.2V).

Thanks for the review! So it seems to have just a bit more lumens and lux than the TN30?

Probably a silly question but does de doming the MTG2 work ok? I was looking at getting the new TN32 or the TK75; I like the over lumens with still decent throw of the TK75 but I love the control ring and lover modes of the TN series. This light would be my light if dedoming it put in the range of the TK75!

A thank you gopajti for the longer distance pics!! Very great indeed! I'm really enjoying my SR96 but as the lumens bug has it, I'm always searching... To have it throw further would be great - but really for fun purposes, as 250-300 yds is pretty good... And the spill and balance is great! Cheers!

It looks to me that the TN35 has a very good output/$ ratio compared to some of those very expensive lights!

I have a tn35vn and love it,not tested fully yet as in UK its not dark till after i go bed:fail: so until i get on a camping trip(or stay up late :laughing: ) i wont see what 3500lm of mt g2 looks like in a field.........

I really like the UI ,very user friendly and a nice sized light too,great package and a great tint from the mtg2 as well
