Hello guys, I would like to show one of my most powerful thrower flashlight, the Fenix TK61 with XM-L2 U2 led, max. 1000lm and 170000cd.

Official,

Description

The Fenix TK61 is scaled for extended operation in challenging conditions with max 1000 lumens output. Utilizing a single CREE XM-L2 U2 LED, the TK61 employs dual on-body switches for rapid shifting between four brightness levels and two flashing modes with runtime well beyond 4hrs on Turbo. The 824mthrow reaches deep while an extended runtime kit stays the course whether the TK61 is handheld, shoulder-strap carried or vehicle-mounted.

Features

·Uses Cree XM-L2 (U2) LED with a lifespan of 50000 hours
·Uses four 18650 rechargeable Li-ion batteries or eight 3V CR123A Lithium batteries
·216mm (Length), 52.5mm (Diameter), 96mm (Head)
·600-gram weight (excluding batteries)
·Digitally regulated output - maintains constant brightness
·Reverse polarity protection, to protect from improper battery installation
·Dual switch system in the front, simple and fast operation
·Made of durable aircraft-grade aluminum
·Premium Type III hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish
·Toughened ultra-clear glass lens with anti-reflective coating

ANSI/NEMA FL1

Output/Runtime: 20lm (300h), 130lm (46h), 400lm (14h), 1000lm (4h20m)
Hidden modes: Strobe (1000lm), SOS (130lm)
Max. Peak Beam Intensity: 170000cd
Max. Beam Distance: 824m
Impact Resistant: 1m
Waterproof: IPX-8 (underwater 2m)

My impressions

Pros

+ Nice packaging
+ Very good build quality as always from Fenix
+ Clean reflector, lens, scratch free anodizing
+ No visible pwm or other irritating flickering, all modes perfect
+ No buzzing sound (driver), all modes perfect
+ Batteries/holder not rattle in tube
+ Protected, unprotected cells fit perfectly (I tried Keeppower 3400mAh, XTAR 2600mAh, Spark 2600mAh, Fenix ARB-L2 2600mAh and Panasonic NCR18650PF 2900mAh)
+ Well centered led
+ Well spaced modes (20lm, 130lm, 400lm, 1000lm)
+ I have not seen rings in the beam (on the wall)
+ Switch reaction time is perfect (react immediatly)
+ Switch position is very comfortable
+ Simple UI with hidden strobe/sos modes
+ Direct access to strobe mode (from standby)
+ Direct access to turbo mode (from standby)
+ Momentary light available
+ One of the best throwing capable in this class (single XM-L2, not modified flashlights) 170.000cd!
+ Extreme long runtimes, especially with optional body tube/tubes
+ 1000lm/170000cd without step down, more than 4 hours runtime (not tested more than 4 hours, but I tested more than 30 minutes and I have not seen step down, I use unprotected Panasonic NCR18650PF cells)
+ Shoulder strap
+ Stable tail stand capable
+ Good price/value ratio

Cons

- No real cons for me

Other comments

- Optional white filter would be good (especially for indoor use)
- Fenix said NW version will be available, but I have not seen
- XM-L2 U2 was one of the best choice for maximum throw, but I hope TK61 "UE" with MT-G2 led will be available in this year (pls Fenix), I think MT-G2 led with this huge reflector and 4*18650 batteries would be perfect combination

Recommend (chargers, batteries etc)

Chargers: XTAR WP2 II, VP1
Batteries (protected): Keeppower 18650 2600-3400mAh, Fenix ARB-L2S 3400mAh, Orbtronic cells
Unprotected: Sanyo UR18650FM 2600mAh, Panasonic NCR18650PF 2900mAh, Panasonic NCR18650A 3100mAh, Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh, Panasonic NCR18650G 3600mAh

(I use TK61 with unprotected Panasonic NCR18650PF cells and XTAR VP1 chargers)

and now here are my pictures, of course if you need higher res, pls click images, more pics coming soon, incl. beamshot, comparisons!

Beautiful pics gopajti:twothumbs quick question and sure it will be asked, does your momentary turbo work by holding power down,as some seem to be hit and miss. Some stay on for a few seconds-10 seconds, others flicker.Way around is to hold the mode button and then release power keeping mode held for an almost momentary..........

I dont use it so no biggy for me,just out of curiosity if yours is fine.

Thanks ven

Hi ven, thanks. Now I tested instant turbo mode, I hold the switch 2 minutes, and I have not seen any problem. I use 3.90V Panasonic NCR18650PF cells.

That reflector..... is so sexy...

It's so big and shiny; it's a work of art in itself :) It reminds me of the T1000 in Terminator 2. Great pics.

Nice shots gopajti!

Waiting for my third TK61 now....will be there tomorrow I think.

First one had off-centered led, second one the instant-turbo problem.

Pros

+ Nice packaging
+ Shoulder strap
Thanks for the review and I look forward to the beam shots. May I ask if the shoulder strap in your opinion is any good and of you could post a photo please? Do you know if this torch comes with the nice white plastic case as per the TK75?

Thanks.

Nope, comes in a cardboard-box with foam-insert.

Fantastic beam shots, just shows that "only" 1000lm in a large/deep reflector can impress so much:twothumbs
