Well I know this is a bit off topic but there are Cree LEDs used as a head light.

What I'm really curious about is the battery management that is built into the pack./

Pack:

Manual;

On page 13 is the curious paragraph;

--- snip ---
NOTICE: This battery pack is equipped with an advanced self-maintenance function to extend the battery life. Depending on the battery charge, it will automatically perform a self-discharge operation after one month of storage. After this self-maintenance, the battery pack will enter sleep mode and maintain 30% of its charge capacity. If stored for a month or longer, fully recharge the battery before the next use.
--- snip ---

I have never heard of a battery management system do that.

The product is a battery operated lawn mower I just bought;

To keep in context there are four Cree LEDs for a head light. I have not look closely yet but they appear to be cool white 10mm actually fairly bright. Since they are on the mower and low angle it would be advantageous for the operator to wear a head light also for general lighting.

Questions;
* Any idea about the chemistry?
* The battery is fairly heavy for the amp rating, 4.87 lbs.
* After use the resting voltage was 51.9 volts.
* Mower seems to have good peak power in long 6" dry grass.
* My guess is 15 cells in series, 2amp cells, with 1-string for 2amp battery and 2-strings parallel for 4amp battery.
* My guess is LiFePo4.

Any comments?
